fluro lights

high all. i was just wondering if compact fluros could be used instead of hps? i jjust dont have the money for them right now and was wondering if i used 2 or 3 compact fluros would i still get a good grow? thanks in advance.

hey mate, yeah you can use compacts. I've no idea how much 2-3 compact fluoros would yield. Maybe a half ounce of bud? I don't really know. Thought about a 2nd hand HPS? Looked in the trading post or cash convertors?

It would cost ~$100 for 4x48W CFs which would be a minimum for growing over 1' IMHO. Put them under the flouros until theyre a foot tall and stick them outside to flower in real light [24/0 to 12/12 usually does it].

Cf will do a grow for ya but as pipeman said u wont get all that much, the more cf u use will help but after spending all that money buying then u could get youe self a 2nd hand hid, i got mine(400w hsp) from cash convertors for $90 and that was with globe so have a look around i am sure u will find some thing in your price range.

As Pipeman and Ozymade said, Trading post is good, i got two 400s complete(son-t Agro bulbs) with good shades for $80 each, and then got another two for $70 at a "second hand dealer" pawn shop out of the yellow pages. I checked under Hydroponic, then checked the ad's for a second hand shop selling hydro gear. There is also always heaps of hps lights at the local cash converters for reasonably good prices.

I guess it depends on what state you live in?

If you can pick up a 400watt light kit for $80 then thats definitely the go.

Public service announcement: make sure you check all second hand lights well. Check cables properly and have a good geez at the hps lamp. Thanks pipeman it took ages to find, i can give you the web site address if u r keen to check it out, there are a few rippers.

Personally i wouldn't touch a second hand light. Why buy someone else's former problem . Save up your cash cut back on smoking or maybe hit up your boss for a sub . Bought my last 400 HPS with remote ballast , son t agro lamp for $ 175 with 12 months warrantry. Your choice good luck OZ DAZ

That is true up to a point u will all ways get shitty second hand shit but u can got some bloody good second hand stuff as well, when u get anything second hand that runs on power u have it looked at by a spareky i had my second hand HPS looked at by a sparky, it cost me $15 i think and all was aok but just spend thet extra few $$$ to get them cheaked out just for pice of mind an so ya dont fry ya self or burn ya house down
