I hope all goes well for you Pipeman. I lost a grow to mites as well, they can be hard bastards to get rid of. I'd wait till you're sure they have recovered before stressing em any more. Mine died after hitting e,m with miticide. 3 weeks into flower. What a XXXX :D Edited by widowdoc

Thats a great example of fucked plants man, you should be proud. :D .

I wouldn't bother keeping growing them things, I'd take as many cuts as possible off each and find a new good mum. They are some pretty sad plants and you should put them out of there misery and start again I reckon. you gotta prune them things more too, prune em weekly, they are too skinny for mothers plants. If you decide to make new mums, then tip them early and then tip the new branches again and again, till you got a little shrub. and dont let em grow above 30cm or so. In say 2 months you should have pretty much pruned as much off your mother as the size of the actual mother.

anyways good luck in your next crop, 3rd time lucky eh.

I'd have to agree with WC here man, after seeing their condition man, it's just not worth your time to try and get em back to health.... In the same amount of time or less you could have new seedlings or clones prepared as mother plants growing in your newly sterilised area....

I too offer you a hearty good luck and go get em Pipe, you know, this could be your time to shine man. :D

::P: You legend.......

Yeah, I'd just take cuttings and bin em'. Don't even bother trying to save them with bubblers, you want to get the full-on bug infested shit outta there.

And I've just learnt a very hard lesson in bug control, still dark about it :o They were awesome.......absolutley. Damn.......

So clean your room out really well and get goin' boy! We want to see GREEN :D

here are some pics of the bucket construction. 2 bucket, 4 plants in each and a control bucket. these are just to keep small mothers, not to grow out.

A third bucket wouldn't fit in the cupboard, so I stole the rubbish bin from the bathroom, I think it'll do nicely.

I'm not too sure I like the panda film wrapping, its loose and to me it looks like a place for moisture to collect and grow mould. we'll see I guess.

Pipeman, man really feel for you, hope things get better, look like they are! lol

I reckon i had a worse case scenario last grow... had 12 healthy vegged cuttings readty to go into my main room... because i didn't have enuf clayballs for 12 plants i decided (while transplanting!) ;) to accomodate and mixed in perlite, vermiculite..... as i was used to growing in clayballs only (watering like every hour or so) i ended up seriously overwatering the plants and they flopped big time...took me about two weeks to diagnose the problem...ended up watering them once a day only through flower...fuck!...not only did i manage to waste about 3 wks i also convinced myself to do the following...this is all while i'm meant to be doing some serious study for my course and i think. yeah, lets go organic...so i go and buy fish fertiliser and make a tea out of alfalfa pellets... what happened...PH shot though the roof for a week, always above 7.0, the room stunk like the ocean like when you drive past loads of seaweed on the beach on a stinkin' day, and the floodndrain, medium, res. etc ended up in slimy brown shitpile.. this is all when i had previously used just Canna nutes and was doing fine and on top of the plants wilting away nicely....the grow ended up alright suprisingly!

So i now use just canna nutes with half strength Hy-Gen Peroxide available from hydro stores. Don't know if you use it and it does sound scary but its worth it - no algea, meant to be an alternative form of oxygen for roots & medium as well, good sterilising med. for res water, plant med., tools, washdowns etc, keeps thrips out of clayball med. 4me. Here's a speel from the co.

"Hydroponic growing is commonly plagued by bacterial infections.

I use it in veg and for cleaning. If that's one thing i've learnt in a year of growing is that your setup should be clean, sterile - you'll be bringin' on the nasties otjherwise!

Pipeman a mate said to me more than a year ago that when you get going you'll probably spend a year fucking around and experimenting until things are right for you! I thought at the time, yeah whatever but now i reckon he's close to the mark. It's taken me that long before i'm sorta' comfortable with my grow space and what it's doing. Big mistakes have set things straight 4me - you just gotta' learn from them bigtime!

As for the mites, don't know about the scarid fly, but i used the product in the pic and it worked good...this was on one plant that was overun with spider mites and i wanted to use it for cuttings... spray 4-6 hrs before the lights go on cause' mites like to crawl up to the top surface of the leaves and have a munch during the night.... spray top/bottom leaves, practically drench plant, once a day for 3 days... worked really wel 4me... was able to take good cuttings, mites have never returned ;) .

Good on ya' for powering on bro., buckets look the shit!

oops, pic. lol

"Hydroponic growing is commonly plagued by bacterial infections.

Sometimes this is evident from the seedling or cloning stage due

to poor hygiene. Pathogens also attack mature plant root zones and

inhibit plant nutrient uptake and hence reduce plant vigour and

fruit production. Peroxide can minimize these problems when

used to clean and prepare cloning tools. As well as minimizing plant

pathogens in most hydroponic systems, Peroxide provides an

additional source of oxygen. Peroxide is compatible with all

hydroponic mediums."
