Any Ideas?

Ok, my plants are now a week into 12/12. They're a good 2ft high, in a recirculating set-up. I have expanded clay in sattelite pots, and I have been root pruning, last time was about a day before I turned them.

They are re-vegging from my last crop, so I knew the root system would have to be kept in check. I had 2 drench for scarid fly, so I had to do my tanks last night. Everything was fine before, draining properly. Changed the tanks, mucked around for a bit and then hit the net. Would have been maybe 1/2 an hour later, I went in to check on my other babies. I had a quick look on my way out to see if I could see any of those bloody fungus gnats moving around, and discovered the sattelite pot had filled right up, and was about to overflow. Switched the pump off, had a suss around. It was only 1, not both of them. Mucked around with it, checked the roots again and it started draining alright again.

Now, question is. If it is the root system (which I'm pretty sure it is :D ) that's started to choke up the pot, can I get away with trying to drill bigger holes in the bottom, so I can give the roots a bit more room? Pretty nice plant, and I really don't want to put it outside. Any ideas? :)

what you may find is that your roots aren't blocking the outlet, but the sheer density of them makes it take ages for the water to filter through, thereby creating your overflow issue. So you may prune and give them room around the bottom and put in a bigger outlet but still have the problem. This is what I found with bubblers anyway, as the roots get real thick real fast.

Maybe try thinning out the roots and slowing down your drippers?

Next time you place your clones into expanded clay make sure the stem is at least half way to the bottom of the netpot, that way there will be no roots blocking the exit of nutrients from the pots and your plant will have better support. Drippers can then be turned up to max with no overflow problems.
