Outdoor Clone Question

Hi Guys,

 

I will be growing a few test seeds of a Medical Grade strain.

 

If I get a good plant and want to clone it for next season what is the best way to go about it? I am good at cloning so the technique is not an issue but I was thinking about how I keep them alive over the winter to plant them up for the next season?

 

ideas that come to mind are:

 

1) I could keep them under fluros but fear they would get too out of control during the winter.

 

2) clone one plant and keep it under fluro and "re clone" again come spring.

 

3) re veg the plant outside and clone from it come spring.

 

Any ideas or experiences appreciated.

1) .... You could keep them under fluoros.... they wont grow too crazily under fluoros in a few mths....

There are probably better options though .....

I'd go with option 1. and if the clones out grow the space before spring, just take new clones and ditch the older ones (or give them away or put them outside) after the new ones take root. I used to do this over the winter to save genetics from one outdoor season to the next.

its just a matter of which strain/plant/smoke suits which ailment .... some strains that are good for one person might have adverse effects for another....and vice verser

 

as for strain preservation....i rekon option #2 & #3 ...combined

 

take a couple clones from each plant and tag em to correspond with

donors....

then let the donor plants finish...taking note of which one does what along the way

select which donor(s) suit your needs and then disguard the undesired/useless ones....just like john west - select the best, reject the rest

id keep the seeds and wait till it is closer to summer , or grow some mothers and get some bulk clones (can give away to friends if you have to many , they will thank you for it) for summer then choose stongest looking clone that was taken from the bottom of the plant and use that as a fresh mother for next year , after a while I like to throw some pollen over them and get fresh seeds then the idea is to back cross them any way , Timing is everything learnt that

 

all that means #1 ...haha
