600w Ballast to Cooltube

Recommended Posts

Sorry thread dig, and first post.

How did you go in relation to the stupid square plug out on the quantum ballast to the lights, did you cut the square us plug of and just replace it with a oz spec female receptor.

Got this ballast for $160 from the states and was $370 from australian sites....Can't argue with the high aussie dollar. Wasn't interested in a grow lush or anything like that so thought id give it a shot.. There is a BAASP adapter you can buy that i found online last night after reading Naycha's post but not with our connection points so i think i might be shopping in the states again...

Thanks mate, so you cut this plug off(see the pic) and strapped on a normal aus plug?

The power feed is easy, jcar for $7.50. usa power on the right in the pic.

One thing I did notice is the fan noise, louder (loud may be over stating it) than any computer I've owned.

Yeah I cut that square plug off the ballast and was going to put the round earth pin plug ( to fit the cooltube ) on. Only thing is when you cut the plug off you won't have enough power cord coming out of the ballast to rewire the new plug. I ended up taking it to a sparky and he rewired a longer powercord and fitted the plug at the same time. If somehow you can get the US square plug off without cutting the cord you should be right. If not you'll have to rewire a new power cord inside the ballast which i didn't feel comfortable doing which is why i went the sparky.
