Greetings fellow Burks Back Yard Growers. My first indoor grow was so sucessfull that I have made the new grow cupboard bigger and much more " technically " cleaner ;) My question is the smell was kinda "STELTHLESS" you could smell it all round the house I gather carbon filters or scrubbers are the go but I don't actually know how they work ? Do they have to be attached to something or a fan or what ? Can I make small cheep ones or do they have to be large ? I have looked on youtube and seen some DIY examples made with pipe and pantyhoes etc but none of them actually show "HOW THEY WORK" where to put them. I know, I'm a little slow but what do you expect after 45 years on the green :yahoo: :yahoo: Could anyone please advise me or head me towards a video or something, or even can you just purchase them on line somewhere ? THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Hey BadHabits, you can get a carbon filter at your local hydro shop or from ebay or anywhere online.

Basically you want a fan pushing air into your growbox and a fan sucking air out. You hang the filter at the top of your box on the inside and use your exhaust fan to suck air through the filter and out of your box. What happens is as the air passes over the activated carbon all the stink is absorbed by the carbon.

Good luck :bongon:

I run mine in the reverse configuration, to they are relatively universal. I run a verticle flood tube grow set up in one tent and in the other tent I run a verticle tree/bush growing set up and have one mutha of a carbon filter to filter both. To determine the size you need to calculate the amount of CFM of airflow versus the appropriate sized filter to change the tents volume of air about once every 5 minutes (give or take). So I have my extraction ducting at the top of both the tents, and directed to one particular corner of the actual room, and joined up by a Y duct splitter and then immediately into the Centrifuge fan which mounts directly on top of my Mountain Air Filter. Works a treat, no smells outside the tents.
