My First Grow/Fail?

Recommended Posts

if you had some ventilation, the air would be flowing in through your grow and carry away hot air...

maybe just one fan one the top sucking air out, then air will come thru the bottom entry passivley...

then use your little pc fan to knock the stems around for strengthening / circulation

:bongon:

ventilation is important, lets your plants breathe

I have 6 fans for 3 plants

G'day Carp.

Fans, fans and more fans, like brother Pleb says. I'm running 1 x 250mm ordinary household extractor, 2 x 400mm oscillating and 1 x 200mm deskfan + 100mm computer salvage to cool the ballasts, and I'm adding another next week, a 250mm in line with an odour sok that I'll swap with the extractor and use that as an induction fan. It's already blowing a gale in the tent but more won't hurt. At the finish of this grow, I'm going to pull the covers off the ballasts and install cooling fans inside the cases, if they will fit. Like I said, I'm still learning from my mistakes and providing they aren't catastrophic, it's good fun.:guitar: :guitar: :guitar:

hi carpathian,

Firstly, you have nnot "stuffed up" - the plants may me in trouble but nothing lost yet. -

Carathian ......OK firstly i dont really have ventilation

Sure ventalation is essential for a healthy plant. I grew for years with no ventalation but the compensation was the bed-room (14'x14'x16 high) allowed through a open window sea breaze used to rush in the room.

Your plants are green (where there is green their is life) & new growth looks to be 'booming along !'

Can you get a decent 'pedi-stool fan' to contantly blow air on them - this will have 2 effects - improve air circulation & replacement (2) streangthen up the stems to support da fruits (bud).

You look also to be a bit heavy on the nutes - to deal with this issue do a "flush" with Ph'ed water only (read-up on flushing) - do it by the long arduious way as a flush is worth learning how to do it right.

Start back on 1/3 streangth when the plant medium has been thourly dried out.

where there is green their is life !

Grow well carpathian

Empire strikes back!

so I put some of the masters opinions into practice and upgraded my grow room.

Grow room version 2: enter the dragon

ventilation: added a decently size interrior fan to circulate the air.(& liquid nailed a small carbon filter from the pet store to the vent hole in the cabinet.)

humidity: Got a meter once I watered man it went to 90%! or there abouts. it sits around 80% after a good water and the next day stayin about 60%. Ive read 60-80% humidity is good for vegetation growing and. around 50% for budding.

Pots!: got 2 massive pots, almost plastic bucket size. got some rose blood and bone soil (small bag). The new soil is hopefully a good feed aswell, not sure how long to wait before I use my gogo juice. when should i use this? its a plant and soil pro-biotic. I was thinking let the blood and bone work for 2 weeks then put this in?

I alrdy have new growth, things are looking up. !!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The pic here new growth out the top but as you can see is still sick:( Can anyone diagnose this fan leaf please. This has appeared a day after the repotting, water and room upgrade.

IMHO, that yellowing looks a bit like a nute problem, like an iron defeicency or something. Check the pH of your medium. Different nuterients are available for the plant to take up at varying pH levels. Too high or too low and the plant can't use them, although they may be present in the medium. Also from the photo some of those brown spots might need some close investigations. Find a magnifying glass and look for any little critters.

But still it ain't a lost cause, it ain't a fail. When a plant gets stress it conserves its energy to survive, you've just changed its environment by repotting and stressed it out a bit. Give it some time, its a weed, it'll grow.

I'm a fucking hopeless gardener to be sure. That's why I use Coco with good quality Nutrients and a digital PH & EC meter.

That way you know exactly what the plants are getting, and if you use an Airstone in the Nutrient Res. then its almost impossible to overwater.

Then all you need to do is keep an eye on the Fungus Gnats and Mold/pythium.

Sit back and let them grow. Only problem is set up costs and running cost are higher than using soil.

All depends on ya budget.

:applause: on ya capathian :bongon:

keep em warm ! Slow on any nutes - What's our compo consist of atm ? Do you plan on following up with a re-pott (may not need to but u got new pots):applause:

capathian... Pots!: got 2 massive pots, almost plastic bucket size. got some rose blood and bone soil (small bag).

Easy there capa .............. don't rush ..... it's the joy of not doning hydro ...... time ...... go very easy on the rose blood and bone soil (small bag). Like say, - a small handfull mixed in the first 2/3's of the mix - bury them deep if required. drainage is important ...... go gather stones/marbles/hydrotron pebbles(hint)...............dont over feed /water.

Grow well capathian !
