Converting Old Chicken House?

Recommended Posts

Thanks, I too am going for an Indica biased (high CBD) type strain for Medical use. Will pay a visit to local Hardware store and get busy. :)

Ventilation wise I reckon no roof (chicken wire) and some gaps around the bottom of the wall perimeter to allow air flow.

G'day Phil.

Vents around the bottom of your enclosure is a great idea. This will give natural convective air flow and help keep mould etc at bay. Just use a bit of the chook wire to stop rabbits, possums etc from bludging a free feed. Try to scrounge, recycle some second hand chook wire, as any new fittings, at all, on the enclosure will stand out like dogs balls, more so if you want it to look unused. Think camouflage at all times, but it has to look natural, this is the hard bit. But with some fooling around you will get a satisfactory result. Old bits of corrugated iron roofing is good stuff, especially around a shed structure, old cars, junk in general works. Sunflowers are good, any vines-creepers, blackberries, grapes, passionfruit, the old stand by, tomatoes, also peas and beans. By useing these things you get a feed thrown in.:guitar: :guitar: :guitar:

I have to replace the northern wall of the shed to get some light in there otherwise there is too much shade and the sunlight can only come through the roof area (80% maximum solar azimuth December).

I've looked around for some translucent corrugated sheeting to get the sunlight through it but most of it is tinted allowing only about 50% light transmission. I found one type which allows 80% through but it looks a bit "suspect", like corrugated frosted bathroom window glass. The only other idea I can think of is 30% shade cloth but that is pretty easy to see through. Maybe I am just getting too paranoid and go with the 80% frosty as I reckon the 50% gear is really NOT going to help the plants?

After I've replaced the wall I have to put some sort of camouflage in front of it but being mindful not to block off too much sunlight.

Any ideas about wall material appreciated.

Thanks

So is that 30% shade cloth? I thought the plants would not do very well under the shade cloth. Is that stuff from Clark rubber like a clear plastic sheet? I thought if I buried the pots I would get poor drainage?

Thanks for the ideas, I know the stuff you mean at Cllarks now. So under the shade cloth how do your plants go? Do they stretch a lot?

they grow just as good under green mesh , ive seen darker %% mesh with no problem ever , if you dig em in you can pull em out to water , untill they reach near the roof , its just to get that extra height , dont dig em in till needed lol but i drill heaps holes all in bottem of my po\ts so they drain quicker an i sometimes put extra holes around bottem at sides bongon.gif
