Inline fan question

Recommended Posts

So i have a three speed centrifugal fan capable of:

Speed 1 56l/s being 118CFM

Speed 2 85l/s being 180 CFM

Speed 3 112l/s being 237 CFM

as well as an inline 150mm (rated at 250cfm).

my room has an area of 1.6m2 and a volume of 2.88m3

the plan is as follows:

C/Filter -> Ducting -> centrifugal -> ducting -> Cooltube - >ducting -> inline (should be mentioned that the cooltube has a 1000W HPS inside)

All this is to occur within a 2m length (possibly 3m if i place the filter on the ground)

Reasoning for two fans in such a small setup is for temperature control during the summer as even with an air con the temps can reach 30+C

Thoughts on the setup? ideas? constructive criticisms?

heya headhigh =) , so ya room is about 1.3m x 1.3m = 1.69m2. Mate, there is no way you need a 1000w in there. 600w would be fine. summer and 1000w in a small area, not fun. you can do it , but will need air con to do it properly

I would run a completely seperate system for the cooltube, use that 150mm inline for that.

So,.... Duct into Grow area>cooltube>Duct out of grow area> Inline fan.

Some people will say the fan should go first because of the heat, just use a good fan, inlines got no balls and fans pull better than push.

Use the Nice centri to filter and cool the grow area. Suspend carbon filter from the highest point possible, hot air rising and all.

So that is Carbon filter(mounted high)>Centri fan>Duct to outside of grow area.

Thats the best way to do it mate Imo. Seperate systems for both will work better. Best of luck. Peace. Gh72

yes it is a small area for a 1000W but i chose to go the larger wattage because of the shape of the room & to get as many lumens as possible

at its longest point it is 1.7m at its shortest it is 1.2m the width at its longest is 1.3m and at its shortest 80cm height is 1.9m.

its sort of a triangular room

the room has an air con so i'm prepared for summer.

Your suggestion makes more sense so i might have the cooltube suck its air from outside the room placing the inline after the cooltube.

Thanks mate, much appreciated

Hey Headhigh,

I would set it up like grasshopper said...

If you setup as you first said, the inline fan at the end is probably retarding the airflow or at least doing nothing...

Also I dont like sucking the air out of the room and then feeding it thru a cooltube because I reckon dust builds up inside the cooltube quicker, blocking light

The cooltube only needs a weak fan the inline is fine

Dont forget to filter your incomming air to keep pests/dust out

yea i have a spare K&N car filter which i'm gonna use for the cooltube intake. I've cleaned and oiled the filter so it should be sweet.

Just using a few layers of fly mesh to keep out the bugs for the rooms intake so hopefully that will be enough.

Thanks guys :D
