They are the basic same thing electrical conductivity in how much power passes through ya mix to give ya a amount of nutes that are in ya mix.

 

And TDS is same sort of reading but it is how much Total dissolved solids salts are dissolved in ya liquid.

 

Well that is how i understand it...

Usually your TDS is measured in PPM (parts per million) to work this out each manufacturer has their own method.

EC was implemented as a standard to eliminate any guesswork when it comes to dosing up your res.
