New in Oz, gimme some basics

Recommended Posts

Hey there veneroble Stoners,

I am new in Oz, long time smoker.

Can you point me some basics in Aus.

1) How many plants indoors (I heared below 50)?

2) What is the punishment for growing, 20-40 plants?

3) Paying or stealing electricity?

4) Paying electricity, how much are the bills for 20-40 plants?

5) Any other pointers to stay out of trouble?

State: NSW

Cheers,

1 I've heard 50 too from a few sources, but I think it varies state to state.

2 A slap on the wrist (most likely a fine).

3 Do not steal electricity, great way to get yourself caught.

4 Depends how you grow them.. I pay around 15c/kWh.

5 Loose lips sink ships. Don't tell anyone about your grow and keep odour under control.

Welcome to the country and the boards.

Cheers,

1) you get caught with 1 (One) plant. It is illegal. You may end up in court

2) 20-40 plants is considered cultivation for supply, you will definitely end up in court, you would be looking at a jail term, possibly lengthy.

3) Get caught stealing power to grow and your jail term will increase dramatically. It was considered theft from the state, but with deregulation I'm not sure if this is still so. But still it is looked at as theft for the production of an illegal substance for financial gain. Not good.

4) It ain't the number of plants that is relevant but the number of lights, their sizes, what fans you want to use and how many, pumps etc, etc

5) to stay out of trouble 100% don't grow, don't smoke as everything assosiated with cannabis is illegal. Possession, growing, smoking it's all illegal.

If you still decide to go ahead 'stealth is the key' Don't tell anyone, pay your electric bills, don't raise suspicion. Buy a good carbon filter, stop the odours raising suspicion.

Before venturing into somthing so.... silly.... have a read around news articles etc.. Find out what penaltys people are coppin' for such setups like so. Guaranteed to change your perspective on things...

So it is okej to pay electricity $1000/month, $2000/month ? That wont rais any flags?

As long as you pay the bills... the electricity company just wants to make more money.... they really like paying customers.... the only reason people would look at your electricity bills, is if ya had stuffed up elsewhere with the tips people have mentioned here, and your under investigation/ labeled suspicious by the authorities.

I actually sumbled upon an article where they busted a guy with 49 plants, he got fined $1500. Is that possible? that is way too low.
