Green Light !

Recommended Posts

Has anyone heard of Green lights ? A friend of mine mentioned that they may be able to be used during the 'lights off' period without upsetting the plants cycle.

I work odd shifts and am sometimes not able to get to my girls to do gardening during 'lights on'. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes it's possible to work on your girls with a green light.

When I say green light though, I don't mean the cheap party lights with green paint on the glass. You can find proper green bulbs if you look hard enough. Try find a proper green CFL. LED.

Short of having a proper green bulb though, I rigged up my own 'green torch' - which is just an LED torch, with 4x layers of green cellophane wrapped over it.

Seems to work a treat for quick maintainence in the dark period however I don't use it for more than 30mins at a time.

I certainly wouldn't leave even a proper LED green bulb on for more than 30-60mins - certainly not through the whole night cycle.

imo... crappy green party light bulb is fine

its got green paint on it so the light is quite dull anyway, and green!

I use one of them

I also read that plants are super sensetive to light interuptions during flowering ect,

yet ive had minor light leaks do nothing in the way of re-veg plants ect...

id say it has to be serious direct light interuption :bongon:

Crappy green party light or a celophane covered torch is fine in very small doses.

I`d say more to do with lack of intensity than spectral values...

Plants don`t see light like we do, they don`t see the lamp as being of a "green" hue, just dull light of whatever spectrum is being thrown.

Just use the lowest wattage you can for as minimal period as need be...I don`t like to be woken up myself >:(

Or leave em be til "morning"
