Roadside drug testing begins - ABC Online

Unlike alcohol testing, there is no legal level or limit on drug content. It is an offence to have any presence of a drug in saliva or blood.

Mr Corbell says drivers who test positive will be required to provide further samples for police analysis.

"Drivers I think will appreciate the fact that roadside drug testing will assist police in detecting and removing drivers who are impaired from our roads," he said.

First of all, in the usa and most of europe where police conduct random drug testing they use devices that can detect the amount of thc/cbn in your system and have set legal limits and levels( get with the times AFP). just because someone has signs of weed in their saliva does not always mean that they are impaired at all.

someone who smoked a few cones on a friday night COULD test positive on monday morning (no one could deny this person is no longer under the influence) but some one that used an intravenous drug and gets straight behind the wheel COULD test negitive to a saliva test.

A simple blood test will easily detect THC for a week or longer in most people and they have made it an offence to have ANY presence in saliva or blood.... WTF....... Without any proof that the person is under the influence, what is next "hair folicle" tests that will detect a few tokes you had off a joint last new years eve.

simon corbell's last comment about detecting and removing IMPAIRED drivers from our roads could not be further from the truth.

Had a mate have to do a drug councelling course the other week as he lost his licence well over 6yrs ago - original suspention was only 2 yrs but each time he was busted during his suspention they added another 2yrs onto it (silly i know :faint: )

At his drug councelling course he said out of 20 people atleast 15 were there for being busted smoking/consuming ice after police done the drug swab analysis test. He said none were there for driving under the influence of cannabis.

were the other five there because of grog?
