Lamp Socket Splitter Adapter Y Type

Recommended Posts

Hey people...

I am a licenced sparky and would like to remind EVERYONE that doing their own unlicenced fixed electrical work is illegal....

With lighting it is still possible to get wires crossed, in a light socket the tab at the bottom in the centre is active, the side part that u screw the lamp into is neutral.. I'm not 100% certain but i think HID lamps will not like reverse polarity

Cannot stress it enough: if you dont know exactly what you are doing dont do it, DIY electrical can equal DIY dead

Get a sparky in to put in extra power points or whatever you need (before you set the room up), any decent tradie isnt gonna dob in a bloke and his grow room, I work with a few guys that have had those sort of jobs lol

I`m with you all the way Wayne, I`ll get off me date and get a pic of the actual wiring but please heed the above warning...

If in any doubt, don`t do it

For $50-60 you can grab a light rail like those in the link above and be safe in the knowledge that you did`nt screw up.

Whats a few $$$ over your house... or life?

Generally I don`t condone, let alone encourage ppl to do their own elec` work. Your choice but remember safety first.

Hey folks.

I was going to use my first post to introduce my first grow, which is still a month or so off yet, but I stumbled across these and thought they might be of use. I had planned on using them myself.

A few Y sockets on this page.

I had no idea they were illegal. Even still, if I can get hold of them I'll give them a go for sure as I figure if my garden is discovered I'll have bigger issues than a few dodgy fittings.

Let me know what you guys think. Should I steer clear of them all together?

EDIT: Alternatively I've seen the yanks use a fitting that allows you to plug the globe straight into a power board. Anyone seen those aroound?
