Lamp Socket Splitter Adapter Y Type

Ok i have a question.Where the hell do i get those Lamp Socket Splitter Adapters?You know the ones that are shaped like a Y.I see all the yanks using them in there growboxes etc using cfl`s.That means on power cord instead (in my case)using a power cord per cfl and the cords look messy and get in the way.I cant find them anywhere apart from the US.http://cgi.ebay.com.au/G-5X-Studio-E27-Lamp-Socket-Splitter-Adapter-Y-Type-/400214934524?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d2eab43fc

 

They also have single adapters for cfl`s that you plug into a powerboard/strip(like the ones you use for the computer that all ur plugs go into).They can fit like 6 cfl`s on the one powerboard.But i can not find them either.All the yanks have em and i want em too.

I was wondering this too when I was building my grow box. I searched high and low, eBay, Bunnings, some lighting places, but couldn't find any, so I ended up going with a single 130w instead, it came with an adapter, albeit much larger.

You're out of luck my brother, as the yanks have less safety regulations and they are allowed to use those sockets (Suppose to be more dangerous or something). So yeh pretty much not allowed to use em over here. Gotta wire the cfls yourself, which is extremely easy, with 1 power cord a plank of wood and however many lights + sockets.

Why not buy those splitters off ebay? Be deleivered to your door for 10 bux for 5 of em

well i could buy them bt cant use them cause they are american plugs not oz ones.I would love to know how to make one myself with the sockets on a board and wiring them up to each other but i need a tutoral/directions as im no electrition.

They were banned in Aus because they over heat. Plastic or in the old days bakelite used to get very hot. Plastic would melt bakelite would get very hard and break/crumble. Fire risk.

ONLY IN AMERICA darn it they would be sooooo much easier to work with.

Cfl's are easy to wire now I would not recommend you go out and try it if you have no idea about electricity etc. I was lucky enough to have an electrician friend to do it for me the first time and show me now I can easily do it. Should be some tutorials online.

Not good advice to be so general about electricity and electrical items in general AJ...

 

Seriously, if in doubt, DO NOT do it yourself. At the minimum, get advice from someone you deem competent, if not an actual electrician...please
