watering.

I water my outdoor plants 1L of water per day for the first month and the soil [peat/perlite/soil/dirt] is always dry by the next day - outdoors 1L doesnt go very far even if its a seed/seedling and you can watch the soil dry out on a hot day [unless its straight peat moss or mulched]. Burying your pots is a good idea as the ground is cool and but make sure the water doesnt pool by putting pebbles/sphagnum/expanded clay at the bottom of the pot - you can still get root-rot outdoors as Ive found.

If you want to save yourself from watering the plant later in the grow [itll take about 2 months for the tap-root to grow a foot AFAIK] you can bury an open bag a foot deep so itll keep the dirt inside it wet - the top foot of dirt should be allowed to dry still. :)

BTW, you might be able to get away with a 2-day or 3-day watering interval - let the top inch of the soil tell you when its time to water [let it dry before watering it].
