Advice on cooling products would be rad.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys i have been doing a bit of research on filters, fans etc and i just have a few questions if someone could help me out?

Is it correct to have a smaller cfm carbon filter then fan for neg pressure in the tent?

What brands are recommended for stealth or is it hit and miss?

Do silencers really work? I have read a few solutions about it and some people say yay some people say nay and some people wrap there cuting up with a blanket and gaffer tape? Whats the dealio? lol

Cheers

HEy man....

negative pressure is the go, this is achieved by having a bigger exhaust than intake :)

As for centifugal fans they all pretty loud...a silencer does work but if ya in the same room as the tent there's no way of hiding the sound.....saying this...i cannot here a 250mm centrifugal fan from the next room ( well tiny bit but ya fridge is gona annoy u more lol )

Seen ppl build boxes wrap fans in blankets.....all of these work to an extent :yahoo:

So if ya worried about ppl outside ya house hearing it ya can sleep tight :)...but if ya trying keep it down from other ppl in ya house ya aint got 2 much hope :(

Ah no you want a carbon filter that either matches up with the fan (both flange diameter & recommended single pass CFM for scrubbing) or is a size bigger than you need.

Negative pressure has nothing to do with the carbon filter, it's simply achieved by having an exhaust fan & passive or smaller intake fan. You have negative pressure in your bathroom with the roof fan on.... ever felt the air that gets sucked under the door?

All fans are loud to an extent. I built a box & stuffed it with foam/egg cartons/acoustic duct cotton stuff. Works a treat now the loudest part of my setup is the sound of the rushing air in & out through the duct.

I currently have a 250mm centi fan pulling through a 1000mm cf in a bedroom and I can only just hear it from the next room, and outside - only if I stand right outside the window.

You can silence them like others said with a box and foam etc, works well, def drops the noise a bit.

Some peeps insulate their ducting, I've tried it but really didn't see what all the fuss is about. Plus if you have metres of ducting it gets a bit heavy with the padding.

Don't know about the insulated stuff you buy as I never tried it.
