Depression relief

Magenta

Question

Hi all. i am new to the site. I have used for years and at 52 years I am using more for depression relief than pure enjoyment, although it is still an enjoyable thing to do. I generally grow my own but am looking at finding specific seeds for depression and wonder if any data has been collected on this. Cheers

Hi Magenta.

I have looked into this myself before, some of the best info I ran across is here,

http://www.rollitup.org/seed-strain-reviews/297063-strains-bi-polar-anti-anxiety.html

Especially the information provided by the user Hobbes.

I have some Strawberry Cough going now myself, can not wait to try it, although its a stretchy plant and yield is not great. I want to get some TGA gear as well, especially some Jilly Bean, which does not appear to be mentioned there.

You should also look into some theanine,

http://www.web-us.com/l-theanine_anxiety_reducer.htm

Have been using this stuff the last month and its by far one of the best supplements I have ever tried, I have tried a lot. Should use a good fish/cod liver oil as well which would help mood in the longer term, on top of the fact its great for your heart and disease prevention.

Cheers mate.

Sativa dominated strains are the best for depression, imo. I find the high from Sativas to usually be far more inspirational than indicas, they seem to make you want to get active and into the world. Where as indicas just make you want to pike out in front of the tv and eat crap.

EDIT: btw, although I do personally use (and always will) cannabis to treat depression, it should be noted that I don't think drugs of any kind on there own will relieve depression in the longterm.

Best thing, honestly, eat healthy (lots of fruit and veggies, no saturated fat), drink lots of water, get atleast half an hour of sun everyday and exercise as much as you can. Easier said than done, I know. But it's the only thing that will work in the longterm, imo.

Peace

Just for my two bits..I couldn't imagine smoking any Indica plant in order to reduce depression.

Increase it maybe..! Indica is great for pain relief, that's about it though..

I had the misfortune of actually smoking some "medical cannabis" from a visitin USA friend once. Dull heavy and depressing as all hell. But then it was prescribed for medical use, (pain).

Sativa seems to be the best for depression. It will uplift the spirits indeed.

Hey Magenta, White Widow, early harvested 70% clear trichs 30% amber. If that doesnt get you happy nothing will. :) Theres a reason its been a staple in the dam for so long, it makes people happy! Sure theres plenty more out there. I gotta admit, taking care of yourself and getting out in the sun helps a lot too to keep the black dog at bay. Peace. Gh72
