Bong Mods

Hey all,

 

A long time ago i came up with a couple of DIY bong mods. After many friends commenting on how useful they are and then going home themselves and copying them i thought i would post them to share with everyone.

 

1. Small round rare earth magnet (available in 4 pack from Jaycar) held on with Scotch Exterior Mounting Tape (available at Officeworks and Bunnings) most stronger double sided tapes should do the trick but i use this particular brand for its water resistance and shear strength, also it appears to be resistant to mentholated spirits which is handy during cleaning and its easy to remove without sticky residue.

 

This is used to hold the lighter (Any metal tipped lighter will work but i prefer Bic with the safety pulled out) and stoker (My current stoker is a body clip from an RC car, but any pointy metal object will do).

 

2. Small holes drilled on the end of the stem, this allows for many smaller bubbles creating more surface area of the air in the water and therefore cooling more efficiently and removing more bad things. I do not block off the end of the stem which means it still allows for free flow.

nice work on the stem do them lil holes block up quick ! i might get the big drill bitt out , dont think ill worry about the magnet , good idea but

Why is it on some threads you cant see the pic? all I get is posted image? and yes I'm logged in otherwise I couldnt post?

The holes never have been clogged as the end of the stem is still open and allows ash to fall through. Oh and only drill into the last 1cm or so of the stem.

 

The magnet is the best once you get used to putting the lighter back on it.

If you logout you will most likley see them, im guessing your account must have display external images disabled or something.

About the small holes though... wouldn't that let some of the smoke escape wasting some of it?

no, the holes are on the bottom of the stem, which sits in the water, the holes allow more bubbles to form
