$28m of cannabis seized by NSW police

CANNABIS worth more than $28 million has been seized across NSW during a four-month police operation.

 

A total of 13,987 cannabis plants from crops throughout the state were discovered by police as part of the 2010/11 cannabis eradication program, which ended today.

 

The crops were discovered through a mixture of intelligence-based investigations and aerial and ground searches, police said.

 

The total amount of cannabis seized had an estimated potential street value of $28 million.

 

"Preventing these drugs from hitting the streets is going to have an impact on the availability of cannabis in these areas and hopefully disrupt the supply chain," Drug Squad Commander, Detective Superintendent Nick Bingham, said in a statement.

 

Investigations into those responsible for cultivating the plants are continuing, with the operation set to return next year.

The cannabis eradication program has been running since the mid-1980s and is estimated to have kept cannabis worth more than $230 million off the streets.

So I take it a police statement of "28 Million of cannabis siezed" actually means...... About 200 pounds of good buds and a whole heap of stuff that has no street value as finished product, and a gross exaduration to justify spending an insanely stupid amount of money trying to control something they can't actually do.

Just easier to bust Cannabis growers than to actually get to the real problems of crack cocaine and amphetamines etc on our streets. Round my way it's out of control. Easy to ping Growers of Cannabis.

Growers have to stay put to grow, a lab can be assembled, produce a huge quantity of product and be gone in a few days. Wish they would actually put up what that operation cost the tax payers of Australia and the cost to the people who's lives are destroyed over the most harmless of all drugs.........

I find it so pathetic the way they say "STOPPING THE DRUGS HITTING THE STREETS" leave fucking pot alone go get the stupid cunts cooking gear and other amphetamines that do fuck up peoples lives. i seen many a good blokes turn into shit idiots becouse of it. i wish the days off a fue bears and a fue cones at a BBQ would come back. not a fue bears half an oz fue points of gear and go and break into cash's. im a shut up now starting to ramble.
