24 hour veg. cycle

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if any of you experienced growers who have had plants on a 24hr day cycle could give me a little info.??

I have always had either a 16 or 18 hr. day cycle but have recently heard from an unrelieble source that a 24 hr cycle makes a big difference in the growth phase of a plant. Can anybody second this? I would think that a plant would need some sleeptime as well..... am i wrong??

thanks

respect..

24 hour light for veg cycle is fine. your plant doesn't need to sleep lol

people have different opinions on how much difference it makes in growth speed, some say you get the full benefit of an extra 6 hours of growing time a day, and others reckon it makes bugger all difference and you're just wasting electricity.

Ive always taken it as fact that it makes no difference to final quality/yield but Ive never seen a comparison. I used 18/6 on my first grow so that the lights could be out during 10-4 each day [the hot part of the day] but since I have no timer now and its not hot I just leave the lights on.

I use 24/0 as well, which means my light is always on, 24/7 means your light is off for 7 hrs every 24 hrs.

It doesnt make any difference to my power bill, I grew a 18 hr and then a 24 hr and the power was actually a little less running 24, maybe the light uses alot of power starting up? more than say 6 hrs running??
