If 90w of LED was = to 400w of HID then yeah awsome saving

If 320w of LED was = to 400w of HID then yeah there is savings, but not much, and how much does that LED set up cost ya to buy?

 

Is 400w of HID + 320w of LED (sup) really that much better than 600w or even 1000w of HID?

 

The problem is there is not enough education out there and nubies get sucked-in thinking they can do a grow on an LED set up from ebay and need no fans and extraction and it costs nothing to run.

 

My setup cost me around $2000. 600w HID digi, 2 tents, 130w cfl, 2 centri fans, 3 box fans. I pull about an lb a grow, Im happy. I get wrecked up on great smoko, I dont need LED suplementing. Maybe if I grew for profit and I saw the technology working, but I could improve or add so many other variables before I forked of for inefficient lighting.

 

Just because nearly every dispensary in Colorado uses it doesnt mean that it works either. I am sure they are researching/trialing things just as much as the rest do with our own setups. Just because a few members hear use bubble cloners doesnt mean I have to or that they will continue to use them or spruke them in 12months time.

 

Its all trial and error and I would rather the companys with $$ to do the trailing while the nubies do what is proven to get them a decent grow straight up on limited funds.

People realy take lighting serious around here........ All in all I feel lights are like cars or girls, each to their own we dont all like fat girls or driving Fords but there are allot of people out there that do. I am no expert on anything but if some people want to use LED's so be it and if other people wnat to stick with what has been used for years (HID's) then let em. People get so angry over trying to get a little point across, I am still trying to get my first grow room set up have no lighting or anything just researching but if I was someone that had money to spare I would do my own research and buy many lights both HID & LED I think they both have their benifits and that the future will hold the real answer on which is better than the other.

 

Some people are scared of change and only stick to what they have seen work. Shit if we all did this we would never move forward and would all be still living in caves riding animals around and grunting at each other. Give new ideas a chance they are just like refugees people................

I'm just going to say, Check out Plasma lighting, if ya seriously want to run a system with supplimentals. You use the Plasma as the main lights and the HID's as the supplimental. Now those grows are impressive. They have more punch than Mike Tyson, makes a HID look like a kiddies toy, and the bulb is the size of a 5c piece.

They are efficient, and will reduce power consumption, but you will still have REAL growing power, 18,000 Lumens from 300W, that is more like it and the spectrum is not perfect hence the HID supplimentals, but it's pretty damn good, and gavita are probably working on a stand alone light as we speak.

 

Plasma is the closest light to natural sunlight, which is what were trying to imitate in the first place....... Soon I think I must invest in one, because I'd like to see for myself... ....Gavita do one, I know they are pricey....but will shit on LEDS.

Here's a price....... $1200 , can buy on Egay.......I am tempted for next year.........

hahaha, right....."blah blah blah" thanks for proving my point. if your happy with your setup then why even post here? i named quite a few of the advantages of LEDs, I'm not sure how you don't understand that? or only see "blah blah blah"? your obviously set in your ways but that's no reason to completely right-off what others may find beneficial, especially if someone is starting out small or is very limited to space and isn't in it for profit. I don't really care what you think, but I have seen, grown and medicated with LED ONLY meds and they have been spectacular so I have no problems sharing what I think as it isn't based on speculation but actual results. what's so nice about having dispensaries back home is that there is no market for d-bag mass growers pushing there shitty yields on us patients, and we can focus on premium quality home grows and breeding new genetics, which to me is what it's all bout: new strains and massive trichome production, and it IS possible with LEDs, despite what you may think. but I do appreciate your criticisms as it prompts people to do their own research and helps them stay away from imitation chinese shitty LEDs. In the end I'm just trying to help people out, I'm not sure what your so bitter about.....apparently your buds are so good but it definitely doesn't show in you attitude cause you seem anything but properly medicated, just sayin'.

I'm sorry if ya find my manner offensive, Maybe its your "We are superior Americans who know everything, and you are just a bunch of dumb Aussie hacks " attitude that doesn't sit well with me.

Mostly its because of people spruiking L.E.D's that Newbs buy cheap panels expecting them to work, they dont know the difference, and to tell ya the truth, some of the more expensive ones are over-priced Rubbish. I help Newbs learn to grow, thats what I do, especially Med growers of which I am one.

I'm not going to see someone blow their money on an LED panel thinking its gonna give them a great yield, when the reality is as a stand alone light, they won't.

 

Quality is of upmost importance to me, and anyone who has sampled my wares will attest to that. Not a PGR etc will ever enter my grow room.

I'm by no means a great grower, it's illegal here, so we hide smallish grows away. I am however a self-sufficient Med user, and proud of it.

And my buds are decent, always pretty stoned, all strains above 20% THC....just don't take to Farkwittery too well.

 

I would say I'm quite open minded, for things based on Fact, not fiction. And seen as I hold a Cert in Electronics, I think I'm more than qualified to give people the Skinny on L.E.D's .

If a new grower wants to grow in a small space , a good quality CFL set up, or a 250w HID in a cooltube will always shit on an LED panel in flower, so why waste your time?

I'm a strong believer in doing things the right way, the first time, otherwise you set yourself up for failure.

 

The plain simple fact is............L.E.D's been trying to prove a point for over 10-15 years, and they still only good as a supplimental....HID's get results, as inefficient as they are, it's part of the package. And H.I.D's are completely safe to use and leave un-attended, as long as you treat them with respect and proper maintenance/ set up.

Scaremongering growers is how LED companies sell panels, as well as empty promises based on un-attainable targets and outputs, telling people they won't need things like proper ventilation because they run cooler, etc , etc. Just all Bollocks, if you want to stay safe and grow decent plants.
