LED's; an explanation that seems reasonable

Have a look at who the detractors are in this thread and you find them in other threads backing each other up when they find something one of them doesn't agree with. Reminds me of a group of bully's at school

 

I have been growing for around 40 years (my first indoor grow under lights was in 1984) and I do know what I am doing.

I foolishly posted about my experience using LED lights specifically saying don't even bother if the LED light costs under 2k or came off ebay. Straight off I got hassled by an idiot who basically called me a liar, because he couldn't get his plants to grow using the LED he bought off ebay for around two hundred dollars. Having a look at a few of his posts it became apparent he couldn't grow much no matter what he used .

Got told to post pic's or piss off and eventually I relented and posted some pic's of a grow I was doing under LED but still got hassled by the same idiots. Thats the first and last time I will do that.

 

I'm not biased and not hyping LED's, just telling of my experience, personally I don't give a shit what you use, the only reason I'm posting is is to tell people don't believe what idiots like the hash nibbler and his mates say - and don't buy a LED light off ebay or pay less than 2k for a light cause they ain't going to work.

 

The bottom line is I have bought two more LED lights, trust me I wouldn't be spending money on LED lights if they weren't doing the job for me.

Ok, these $2000 LEDs. What wattage are they ? Or more importantly what wattage do they consume?

I for one would like to SAVE power so I would be using LEDs mainly for that purpose.

Therefore I would like something that draws less than 600 watts, preferably around 350 t0 400 at most.

If not then why should I bother ? My HID is proven good at 600 watts.

Heat is not my worry..consumption of those watts is more concerning to me.

Any specs? Any pics? Any links to supplier, please?

Can one use LEDs entirely without the aid of other lights?

How long would it take to recuperate the cost via the (hopefully) less power draw?

I don't want to use LEDs because they are the latest thing or that they look cool, I just

want to save on power without compromising both quality and quantity.

Put up or shut up mate. If I remember correctly, did you not have supplement lighting aswell.? Don't get me wrong I would love to see a decent true led grow.

 

Please. No one can do it yet, so be the first. Teach us something new. Maybe you show the hopefulls you need 5k of LEDs to do what 500 bucks of hps can do.

As an agnostic ( just like Token JJ).. and not yet an athiest when it comes to leds..will Cyclops maybe answer Tokenjj's query on the use of "supplement lighting as well." ??

The photos mentioned by Token JJ looked very nice if they honestly were just the leds being used.

Cyclops, will you PLEASE confirm or otherwise? Then we might be able to proceed.

check out BlackStar LEDs outta california, don't listen to the negative hype as many people do not know how to use LEDs properly, I have smoked and seen with my own eyes what they can do and seriously there are many many benefits to using them. I would start out using them as supplements to your current system to learn the ropes. we were using them in colorado and some of the stronger ones out now have to be really far away or they are so strong they bleach out the plants! be careful of those. however, I highly suggest experimenting with your current setup as they can seriously add to resin production when done correctly, I like them for side lighting in flower and saving money in veg. many of our dispensaries use LEDs as well as MH and HPS, lots of home growers are switching to CFLs and LEDs for obvious reasons and are getting HUGE results for very little costs! its just a matter of what suits your particular space, ventilation, and setup. I personally blew my friends from Cali outta the water using a couple HPS and 3 LEDs in a high-flow under current system w/ an intellidose control unit automatically measuring and dispensing my nutes as I saw necessary. it really depends on what you got but there are MANY advantages to LEDs just watch out as there are a TON of knock-offs out there!

and to all you shizer talking people that are being completely ignorant and close minded, a quick search on youtube will reveal many insanely succesfull LED grows that you can find for yourself without anyone else having to post their own, with the laws being as they are I wouldn't be volunteering my own pics and vids either when tons of other people already are, but believe it is possible and is being done, has been done for a while now, the technology and know-how are there you just have to do some research and avoid the knock-offs and cheap imitations.
