double adaptor as fan speed controller?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys... I just got given a variable speed regulator for a martec mb1204, (ceiling fan) but unfortunately the twisty knob and assembly had been shattered. Now, I'm wondering, If I were to open a double adaptor, remove the positive line between wall and plugs, could I connect the box that controls the power to each plug separately and use it as my own variable speed controller - ie just unplug it and replug it?

Hold up, I'll diagram it in Paint.

so, what i mean, is can the red and yellow wire go to separate plugs? I'm pretty sure they can, I'd just like clarification if possible

Just for clarification, μF is microfarad/s.

The prefix for nano is n.

A farad is the unit measurement of capacitance.

A nanofarad is smaller than a microfarad, and a microfarad is smaller than a millifarad.

Just in case anyone was curious. ^_^

Ya kinda tend to learn these sort of things when your father is a ham radio nut who insisted on you learning all about it too! lol

:freak: Rose.
