First Time Grower Getting VERY nervous.......

Recommended Posts

Hey Norm

Thanks for the feedback mate, good to know i am on the right track with learning to look after her. Had two brilliant sun soaked days since her pruning and well your advise has presented yet another problem!! She has reacted that WELL that she has decided to stand up with the top cola thinking its a chance at reaching the top of the fence to say hello!!!! Easy fix there tonight, I just cant believe what a difference it has made!!!!! owe you a beer for that piece of advise as I honestly would have thought it would damage her but stand corrected.....

Good to hear your ladies are coming along well......nervous times but VERY exciting!!!:applause:

A lot of length in the "to be" buds but as yet not much thickness so will owe you ANOTHER beer if that Rose Focus helps with that........just got to control the root lock situiation which is a bit of a handful in truth :wallbash: but so far so good......could that be an issue with the buds developing properly (root lock i mean) I know it affects the size of the plant just concerned its gonna hurt the quality as well.......

G'day Anakha. Root bound plants, of any kind, are usually not real happy, but yours seem to be ok. You only have a short while now till you grab the saw so it should be fine now, you are well into the home stretch. Just use the rose focus at medium strength, maybe with a little potash in it, once a week now and the buds should thicken rapidly, but as I said you have done well for your first grow, it will only improve from here.

Sorry guys last post for the night maybe week!! lol but I have had a few bourbons tonight and reading over these last few posts something came to me off topic that fark it I am gonna share with you all.....

I am on other forums for other interests in life and in none of them, or probably in real life do you find a place like this where people are so open to share their knowledge when it doesnt benefit them directly.......discuss and debate different ideas/thoughts/techniques with absolute respect....or just generally want others to suceed with their pursuits..........

Hats off to you all lads....I mean we are supposedly all criminals in the "eyes of the law" but I think the above is just more reasons why society needs a good rethink about our laws and ideologies................We may not be able to be loud about our love of MJ, but we can be proud!!!!!

That poor plant. Am I the only one who let out an audible gasp at the sight of it?

I cannot possibly see how that can help and unfortunately you have nothing to compare it against, so you wont really know either way.

My view is if the leaves were not meant to be there then they would not be there in the first place. Where does the plant gets its energy from in the last few weeks when normally the plant uses and drops the leaves itself? I just do not understand.

Kind of like starving a horse for a week before a race, it should make it faster because it will be lighter but reality is it is slower because it does not have the energy to run.

I am arrogant enough to say that cutting the healthy leaves off of a plant is the wrong thing to do and I do not care what anyone else says about the matter, because they are simply wrong.

I wish you the very best of luck and a happy harvest.

No I am sure others gasped just as loudly as you did mate!!!

Thanks mate for your thoughts.

The advise that i was given was probably not to go as extreme as I did.............I went too far with it but hey you would have also read that its my first grow and security was becoming a large issue so couldnt have a big beautiful bushy plant there ANY longer...........................long story short its been about a week and the buds have exploded and starting to look very frosty and very nice (to this newbies eyes under 30x anyways!!!)......I am not experienced enough to get involved in a debate on whether it was right or wrong all I can do is observe and report back and at present it has seemed a bit of a masterstroke!!!!

of course it will still grow, but I do not think it can reach it's full potential now. As I said you won't really notice any difference as you have nothing to compare against.

I understand how hard it is when you first start so good on you, you have the right attitude. It is hard to know where to plant them to hide them but still get enough sun. It is a balancing act. Now you may appreciate the growth abilities and you have some idea of the size they can get too. Maybe you could plant a few more maybe a bit later so they dont get so big next year. Or maybe look into low stress training like tieing down. Or even supercropping or tipping which is beneficial as you can dictate shape more.

But as I said, I still wish you the best, it will still taste the same and do the same job. Best of all it is all yours and you helped make it yourself.

My advice to you is follow your heart/intuition as it was a great looking plant so you must have been doing it right. (that and take all advice with a grain of salt)

<edit>

I am just wondering how much of that new growth is just the plant growing new leaves to replace what was lost?

G'day mate, I was the one who advised the youngster to prune. I have been doing it to my plants for the last 3 odd years and where I am this seems to be the way to go. You can read all about it in my post Near the Shed, I don't want to get into a debate on the pros and cons on another persons post but will gladly discuss any points you wish in my post :guitar:
