I've been stripping some lower branches that are in constant shade, and am considering stripping much more next grow, which will be a scrog. Im just researching in advance.

 

You`re already doing it without apparent question, think about that screen, what`s gonna get past that?

 

what about the extra foliage supplying the plant with more surface area for breathing air/co2 in?

 

2 points of mention-

2: horticulture 101...study up on photosynthesis and get back to us with your findings, if not just to show you`re listening

To a point, yes indeed. However in a controlled environment the benefits of such stripping outweigh the negative consequences...if such knowledge and practice is applied properly.

ok pretty baked right now so ideas are going nuts...

 

after reading some stuff about plant photosynsthiss or somthing liek that it got me thinking...

 

casue you get the problem of light not getting to the lower branches of the plant, what about having a light shining up from underneath it so it hits the lower leafs?

 

would it help in anyway to provide the planty with more light?

 

could be done if your plants are raised up off the ground somehow

 

All things being relative, yes more light can be beneficial. Theres a lot to consider, safety being the #1 issue, dealing with electricity, etc. More info on your setup or future plans would help here...

yer your idea has merit

but as JK has said theres many things to consider

an alternative is growing sog style

where u harvest main colas with no waste

it will take a few goes to get dialed but once dialed can be a very rewarding system

ofc larger numbers are required but id still be inclined to try the sog beforew adding lower light

reality is a cfl isnt going to do much especially wen a plant is allready focusing on its main cola

Hey mate alot of ppl talkin the talk here but knowone showin ya how to walk so here a easy step gettin best of ya light.

 

My pic larger scale but same principal applies......

 

Here u have plants that have just been grown normal, no tieing, snipping nothing.....

 

tie some string to the top 3rd of the main growing tip and proceed to bend over gently without snapping. Tie the string off to side of the pot, weather u use a screw in the side or just a hole aint bloddy matter.

Now if y have more than 1 main growing tip YOU CAN repet this process......... giving u something like this....

 

Now after ya tie em down ya clean underneath em ....BUT since ya get ya light alot closer now theres less to waste as it is now an even mat.....ill get ya some new pics in few days as im doing it myself.

I have to agree with Jaikai, on all counts. If I'm in the wrong, I'll admit it. But point the finger at me when I'm not and yeah sure, I'll react . You had the tap, you had control. You forgot the tap, you lost control, the only point equal in all this is YOU. That means its YOUR flood, not mine. And yes you can send me the bill ( not that I'll pay it but) with ALL RELEVANT details including address, times no one is home, lights (600 or 400 HPS or MH), fans, filters the lot so I know what size trailer to bring. Also it would be useful to know what strain you have, that could be handy. The more info the better. Thanks in advance.

 

As for stripping underneath if, just before I'm about to turn, the growth doesn't stretch thru the scrog its gone. As for the sugars I'm buggered if I know but the improvement from not stripping to stripping has been noticeable and the cleaning has been so much easier without having to clean scrappy little shit that ain't worth the hassle.

Merl1n: Imagine you get a blood blister under your fingernail, and it's obvious you're going to lose your nail. Now, your nail is discoloured, it's dying a slow death, and it's going to take a few weeks for the nail to fall off. Or, you could rip it straight off. The pro's? Promotes quicker reqrowth, ability to sculpt new toe to required shape. Cons? Immense pain (trust me on that one, I had my big toenail ripped off by a dodgy surgeon who injected me with saline instead of anaesthetic). You'll also risk damaging the plant if you're not careful. Some say strip, some say nature knows best...

 

pisspotgrower: Nice setup. What strain you nurturing there? You mentioned about having a single or multiple growing tips, have you tried fimming before? Scrog and fimming go very well together apparently. Fill out the scrog, then hit 12/12 and watch the rebirth of the 12 apostles...

Pisspot, you ain't ever going to get a grow diary out of me. Individual pics, maybe. But a diary, no way. Presently I have no pics at that relevant stage, if I did I may or may not post them. But if you have a look at my posts you may see that my info is from experience and not just theory. Experience also talks of the mistakes made along the way, theory does not. You have diaries good for you, I don't that's my choice.

As for stealing people's gear, piss off, It's happened to me. I wouldn't be doing it to anybody else. I'll help a fellow grower before I would rip any of them off. But if Pleb wants me to pay for his basement accident, then I have to recoup that from somewhere It was a throw away line. I ain't no theif. And Pleb took it as it was meant, a joke. I must say I'm a bit disappointed he hasn't supplied me with the 'relevant details' yet. Again another joke.
