1st Grow And Hooked!

Recommended Posts

]Hey guys! Just thought I'd throw up a couple pics of where I'm at and hopefully get some advice on how to improve on my growing techniques. Both have been in flower for approximately 4-6 weeks but haven't been keeping time unfortunately. A couple of leaves have gotten red spots on a couple of the leaves? Any ideas what could be the cause? Also is the phatty head on the larger plant a polyploid? Its twice as dense and has twice as many leaves?

NUTES

Veg: Seasol+Powerfeed

Flower: Began with potash and Seasol but have now began feeding with a mix a mate gave me which has worked wonders. Also looking to find some blackstrap molasses( would Foodland stock this? )

Absolutely cannot wait to harvest, cure and finally sample my first homegrown! :bongon:

Peace out!!! :peace:

G'day Pat. Let me be the first to congratulate you on a couple of ripper plants. They will be superb by about Easter. I can't see much to add but I would get rid of those yellowing leaves, they are using nutes that the heads could use. I'm in the deep south as well and I prune mine quite hard to open them up to the light and air to help prevent stuff like mould and bugs. There is nowhere for snails or slugs to hide either. I let my chooks in and they clear up anything like that. Mine are in the soil except for 2 that are potted. The ones in soil are much taller. If you would like to check mine check out Near the Shed. See if you can find what the nute was your mate gave you, seems terrific. I've never used molasses, but some of the mates here do and recommend it. Good work...

Bloody ripper plants mate thumbup.gif

Just a tip though, that pH meter you got in there is about as accurate as tasting for acidity. I bought one myself and it just sits on a shelf now, if you can't afford a decent meter buy some litmus strips for ~$1 off of eBay. They're much more accurate wink.gif

Cheers for the comments guys!

auntynorm: So around Easter you expect is harvest time? I usually leave any leaves on until it requires little effort to remove them but might take your advice I reckon. Also I've heard mixed opinion on pruning the fan leaves and I'm a bit hesitant because I had done so previously and where I had removed the fan leaves there are some resin sacs still unopened? Are they still going to open over time?:scratchin: And I'll try to find out the name of those nutes for ya!

BudJones: I soon realised after I bought that meter what a POS it was  I think the strips you speak of are the way to go!

demistify: There is a rural feed store locally I'm gunna have to check out, cheers for that!

bigrat: No they're just there for the photo op and are now back under the big juicy sun!

Keep on rockin guys! :guitar:

G'day Pat. Down here in Vic. I harvest around Easter and I prune fairly hard, see my post "Near the Shed", to open them up to the sun and air. I don't know of any reason why all the sacs should not mature, with enough light and heat. It seems from your pics that there are still lots of white hairs on the buds. I wait until they have nearly all turned red/gold/brown before I get my saw.
