Comfrey killer

Recommended Posts

I have just started growing indoors having grown outdoors for a few years(in another country). I found a good natural plant to fertelize is Comfrey, yep thats right, good for burns, sore joints and fertilizer!!! You can grow em round your plants as they do not get big and like a little shade. Then simply remove and place the mature bigger leaves around the stem of the plant to decompose(mulching) or leave em to rot in a container with water and use later. They dont need any attention, just a little water now and then.

Very good companion plant.....always had good results without using any chemical nutrients.

I know that during the "olden" days, when england would march off to do battle with who-ever it was trying to take their country, or vise versa; they would order the farmers to all grow comfrey.

I was under the impression it was for the wounds of the soldiers, but now I just don't know..........hmpt!

Thanks for that, I'll have to try it.

Yeah robbie, you're right... Comfrey is a great healing plant as well as composter... It goes by an old name of "Boneknit"... here's a paste from Bacchus Outdoor Garden thread here on the subject I wrote recently...

..did you also know that whole leaves can be used as a poultice on small scratches and other wounds, and active ingredients in the leaf (it's also known by a common name of boneknit) greatly increase the cell division rate in the surrounding tissues. It leads to faster, healthier healing! Great eh? Just take a leaf and fold it, place on the wound, then use a small piece cut out from a freezer bag to cover it, followed by a piece of cloth or bandage to fix it on. Change the dressing daily, and it should heal a lot faster than if left untreated.

Great stuff... :) :D
