My understanding was that some 'old wives tales' had a practacle use, tried and tested in some cases over many years

So rather than it being insulting it was recognition of the years of experience and knowledge old wives have

My 'old wife' has a book of wives tales and hints for the home

Where some 'old bastard tales' are more like who can bullshit the most(after a few beers)

Talking about old wives tales, years ago I was told a full moon affects when to harvest. I can't remember exactly what he said now but it sounded a bit like BS to me at the time. Anyone think phases of the moon affect when to harvest?
