Old wives tale or not?

You'll have to excuse the level of the English Language (remedial, at best) that I acheived in my schooling years, demistify. But to my understanding, you might be taking the term Old Wives Tale out of context and concentrating on the words alone, to establish your theory that it maybe viewed as a derogatory remark (or similar) to some folk.

To my understanding, the term Old Wives Tale is used in reference to old folklore/s and alike that have been handed down throughout the years, with little to no evidence to support the claim/s. This is why I'm struggling to decypher to where you appear to believe that it maybe singling out a group or person/s and attempting to belittle them (or similar).

I understand what you're saying if someone attempted to label an individual or group as druggie/s. That does indeed appear to be an attempt to be derogatory remark (or similar).

So with said, could you please go into detail some more to what you're saying. As I fail to comprehend to how the terms Old Wives Tale and druggie/s can be used in a similar degrading context?

thanks for the straight talking friends but there's a point here I think you're missing. in yr outrage you're behaving like establishement pawns ... you're doing the establishment's work for it ... I mean the term 'druggies' is another example of discrimination and prejudice embedded in language to ensure YOU and others like us never get a fair go ... anyway, cheers from an ex-longhair hippie druggie drop-out bludger!

edit: afterthought ... how come they're not called OLD HUSBANDS tales then? answer: because our culture is sexist. and that's just not fair.

speak up you women members ... is it true that old men always spout wisdom while old women always talk bullshit?

Because old husbands are usually called old bastards and they couldn't print or say " Old bastards tales" see they even had political correctness back in the dark ages. Only under the pretence of religion.

So you have now turned to the dark side. Maybe you were a fringe hippe. One foot either side of the line.

Will all this political correctness bring peace and harmony to the world? I doubt it.

Hey GP,

I also remember being told this Old Wive's Tale many, many years ago, by an Old Codger in Bega :scratchin: , and whilst i'm only new to growing personally, i have been around a few grows and depending on the strain i have noticed this seems to be true. I'm certainly keeping an eye on one of my plants, that is growing like this  . As i said though, i'm new to growing, but Old Wives Tales usually have some truth to them. Not like one's from Old Bastards  :P
