Old wives tale or not?

Hey all. I had a long forgotten thought about something that was told to me approx. 20 years ago. :scratchin:

I was lead to believe that by rubbing the stem of vegging plants that you can get an indication as to what the finished bud will smell like.

I have done this on and off over my grows but have never got serious about it or documented results. Also was told that this was a good way of determining males as they do not have the same aroma as females when vegging.

Try it on a few different strains (if possible) and let me know what your thoughts are.

I am pretty wasted ATM and was reading another what is this strain thread when these memories decided to flood my brain. :bongon:

Also while on the subject of wifes tales is it possible to tell if a plant is male by it stretching in between branches(may just be a sativa phenom) and branches growing parallel to each other( diagram now installed- artistic I am definately not)post-40056-0-31072400-1298699296_thumb.jpg

Man I hope this make sense :stunned:

Sorry if this been covered before

yes Goodpawn ... nothing personal ... as you will see from my 'interests' power and language is a hobby horse.

terms such as the one used is part of the way that language maintains disadvantage for certain groups within our culture. we are so used to hearing the terms in daily language we think nothing of the meaning of the words ... and so the power structure is maintained even after we 'pass' discrimination laws.

cheers ...

are you sexist Goodpawn? 'old persons tales' is how it's said today. 'old wives' indeed!

My sincerest apologies, I meant no disrespect. Should called the thread mythbusters, much more politically correct

You don't have to apologise gp. this bullshit political correctness has gone too far. old wives tales are just that. probably started by old wives.

It pisses me off that everytime I start to write something I have to think if I am going to offend someone or not by what I write. bah humbug!

I'm with Brick on this one this, political correctness is a load of cods wallop, correcting people for their grammar is just down right rude in itself.

Some people have not been fortunate to have an education but there common sense will out way a piece of crappy english.

I noticed that your hobby didn't include growing Cannabis or not seen any pictures.

:peace:

thanks for the straight talking friends but there's a point here I think you're missing. in yr outrage you're behaving like establishement pawns ... you're doing the establishment's work for it ... I mean the term 'druggies' is another example of discrimination and prejudice embedded in language to ensure YOU and others like us never get a fair go ... anyway, cheers from an ex-longhair hippie druggie drop-out bludger!

edit: afterthought ... how come they're not called OLD HUSBANDS tales then? answer: because our culture is sexist. and that's just not fair.

speak up you women members ... is it true that old men always spout wisdom while old women always talk bullshit?

Appreciate the need to change bad habits in our language and expression, occa should be removed from the face of the earth for good

I am not sure old wives tales is high on the list of political correctness though; men and woman played different roles in past centuries and its nothing more than a reference to that really.

Is it whats behind the language, expression and attitudes that matters or the specific words themselves? Taking things too seriously is the only real problem IMO.

Males/females tricks/tests is always bogus ^_^
