Starting cold turkey

Recommended Posts

There's a lot to learn my friend if you want to do it right. You need to do a lot of reading and just general browsing of the internet, but to get you started what you first need to decide is if you want to grow organic or with chemical products, both have there pros and cons and choosing either one will effect how you grow quite substantially...... I personally favour organic as its what I look for however each to their own. But once again research the subject for yourself and you'll find the info your looking for.

Hoewever in addition to this the basics you could start looking into are

- Where do you plan on growing and basically try and understand your environment as much as possible, i.e look into your closest weather station information and statistics about your area. Once you understand growing further you will see how much weather can vary and as a result have how much it can effect the plant you grow.

-Soil Mix - Once again this varies depending on organic or chemical but to get you started with a great soil recipe which a lot of well experienced growers still use or at least base their mix of is subcools https://cannabis.community.forums.ozstoners.com/index.php/topic/19323-subcools-super-soil

Fertilisers - Research and try and plan what fertilisers your going to use throughout the time of your grow. Basically I'd reccomend looking on Australian hydro supply websites because they pretty much detail what is easy and available to us Australians.

Disease and Pest - A big factor if you decide to guerilla grow and even in your home are risks or harms to your plants that stem from the surrounding environment, i.e pests like roos, rabbits, possums......this differs to every area. The obvious solution to this however is to fence your plants. Disease can also be a big problem for outdoor growers, for example bud rot and things like spider mites are very harmful to our good friend mary jane.

There just a few of the things of the top of my head but that should get you started.

G'day Consey. First you will need a good shovel, get used to it. It will do much work, and so will you. They don't grow 'emselves, it takes lots of work, care and attention to detail to get it right. I grew 2 times in W.A. years ago and it worked out good both times. As the good Sarge says read as much as you can. There is a wealth of info right here, these people know what to do and more importantly what not to do. If you start doing prep work on your plot now, your plants will love you for it later. Lotsa luck...

my first was in w. a. didn't know what to do. got some twenty litre drums (they were five gallons then) put in 50% horse shit 50% sharp sand planted them up watered on thrive everyday and bingo had heaps of smoke and lots left over to get other things too. beginners luck they tell me! but I was at them every day. later I learned it's better to put a saucer under the drums to retain the water/nutrient and to stop white ants. good luck!

ps. I don't do it that way any more ... but better you sophisticate your own trip.
