My 1st grow

Recommended Posts

Guest Wilderbud

I usually give them their first nutrients when their round leaves start to turn yellow. I think I use 5-5-5 for grow and 5-10-5 for bloom usually - all soluble organic nutrients [whatever the hydro shop tells me to use. ;)

I was lazy and used osmocote this time - :) - they look so pathetic compared to what I can grow when I put some effort in. ;)

OK out of all that I planted 9 are growing. 7 under fluros by night and the sun by day and two left on the window sill all day. Most have thier second leaves now and I can see a 3rd set starting so they should be here tomorrow. My problems Some plants are going sideways no matter if I prop them up..... I think this is due to the light im going out today and buying another set of fluros. The ducks feet I planted only one came up and it still on the funny little leaves the come up when germed (I forget the name) IT is health as far as I can tell but it just dont want to grow. I have a very big fan that I use in the summers I put it on them for 20 mins every day. I am in the process of getting my self a cupboard to fit in my wardrobe so as I can controll the air flow and who sees them lol

I put 8 ducks in water Im going to try again....

Any thing you can see I have done wrong plz set me straight

If you dont mind spending about $25 on some nice starter pots+soil I suggest buying a compressed peat block (theyre brick size and swell to 25L or you can get jiffy pots if you cant find a block) from a plant/hardware store and some plastic cups. Stick pencil sized holes in the cups, put some rocks in, then fill sith the peat youve expanded. :(

After those seeds have sunk, put them 1/2" deep and cover lightly with peat then just keep them moist for 2 weeks. It should give you a healthy plant and a lot of people swear by it. :o

Seedling raising mix sucks. lol

Coco coir is great and availble at big w in a big block for about 10bux that makes upto 90L..... CANNOT GO WRONG!

I also have some seedlings going atm one is upto 2 nodes.... Other 2 are just popping outta coco don't even have round leaves yet....

The seedling upto 2 nodes is fucking sick i gave it nutes after it had 2 main leaves and it got mega fert burn (I gave it 1/5th strength of hydro nute) so I flushed it and accidently over watered it and it didnt need watering for a week now I have just given it some charlie carp... Hope "she" pulls thru

I have about 9 leaves avrage in my plants I havent had any probs so far cept for the other strain not germing. I do how ever hav 1 or 2 droopies I put a high power fan on them so I cant see wha the problem. About when Is the best Time to change the light cycle I have it 24/0 at the moment. I have a digi-cam but It wont work for some reason I will have to borrow one :o I have a wardrobe to grow in and I am in the process of building a Cabnet to go inside it Hopefully I will get at least 2 females....

I am planning on going scrog with the lower numbers or sog if I get a decent amount of fems.

The plants growing on normal daylight have only just started to get there first real set of leaves. So I must be doing ok with the CF's.....

What is the Ideal size pot for SOG style growing?

I have plans of seeding one female so I can go major SOG next grow (Then I will have Bulk Clones lol). I have also been reading up on using Blue cold cathodes to induce tighter spaces between nodes. Oh I know I know Im jumping in the deep end but thats were I like to start.......... I will be moving soon and im in the process of building a small room in ground for my babies, thus I will be no longer limited by the need to keep them locked in cupboards and have them malnurtrshed. then I can really start to experiment.....

Oh i was talking about the plants not my children...... honest.....

About when Is the best Time to change the light cycle I have it 24/0 at the moment.

When your plants have grown to half their desired height. During the first couple of week of flowering the growth rate should increase and leave you with a plant which is twice the height. If youve tipped/fimmed the plant and want to go ScrOG then youre supposed to have it screened before turning the light cycle to 12/12 - stems harden up more when its time to flower and its best to stop stressing the plant a week before 12/12 [you dont want to ruin 'the stretch'].

What is the Ideal size pot for SOG style growing?

Im assuming SOG means youll be flowering clones 2 weeks after theyre rooted. Since you only have to support plant growth for a few weeks you dont need as big a container as you would if you grew larger plants. If you want a really good SOG setup Id look into a tray wide and long enough to fill your cupboard and 6" deep to setup a flood and drain system - I used this on my first grow and the whole tray was one massive root system after a month and the plants were as green as you could ever get so the rooting system was adequate. If you use a wide/long/shallow tray instead of individual pots then youll be able to fit more clones into it and cleaning up for the next grow should be quicker - its also a lot easier to build from scratch and I will be doing this in my flower chamber.

They dont have pics of these trays but Im sure theyd be what Im talking about; Canadian Ebb & Flow and White Grow Trays

Screw windows :)

I just typed a very big post and windows decided it would crash yet again at the most inopportune time.....

I have a problem, I am selling my house in one month and need to flower my babies so they don’t stink when its on the market :D

MY three most vigorous plants are all very berries in larger pots and have been sparingly watered they are now at 23cms and the weird little starter leaves are dropping off. All in all they are looking very nice.......

The next biggest two are very berries at 18cms they are the ones I put in smaller pots and watered alot.....

The two that I only gave normal sun light and hardly any water have very tight noding and the very berrie is at 13 cms and I think it has started to flower due to the daylight hours, The other one is at about 10cms it is a ducks foot. I have had allot of problems growing the ducks were’as the very berry's were very hardy and easy to grow. I would recommend them to any and all growers :P I have yet to see the stone tho..

I am going to get a few more CF's and try to flower what I have in the next few days, I hope I can find a better light to do this under. I’m looking for a 70 watt HPS around town but no luck.

Any comments or wisdom to be shared msg back....

EDIT: I just reread a few of my post who is editing them? I noticed a few syntax errors and lines added to them That I am sure I did not put there :)
