Going to Try it for my first time, maybe?

Hey guys, I'm pretty keen on trying some weed out, and I want to get a few pointers.

So my mate rolled me a joint, just a small juicy nice one, completely pure with no spin. I've been smoking ciggarettes for a while, but nothing like Marijuana, I've only been drunk once, so I'm not really used to things that alter my mind.

Also, SCHIZOPHRENIA runs in my family, so maybe that is something to definitely consider when going to try for my first time, should I be smoking bush or hydro?

Cheers fellas.

Yeah, my uncle got scizophrenia from smoking a bit too much weed in his early days, but yup, not too sure. Most of my friends smoke, so if we did, no-one would be sober, so that's a bit of a downer.

One time wouldn't specifically trigger it I suppose, and I may find I like it, but what I'm scared of is a paranoid episode of freaking out, I already have anxiety. :|

I use weed as a treatment for anxiety...

but if your young and your brain is still developing, it can cause long term problems and if your prone to scizophrenia, maybe weed is not for you just yet...

You might be better off trying heroin? apparently its like 1000 times better than sex

Smoke it with a mate so someone can keep an eye on you, Ive seen 2 people flip out when they first tried weed, both female tho.

You should definitely try new things - it keeps life interesting.

Try it with your close friends and in a comfortable and safe environment, only smoke a little and wait and see how that go's, if that's all good maybe try a bit more.

Don't be suckered into smoking too much, too soon.

Most medical professionals will say that MJ is not a good mix with SCHIZOPHRENIA, but I do lots of things that 'they' tell me is no good for me. Like billo says - it's a personal thing.

Good luck and have fun,

Jimbo :peace:

G'day Anchors.

First off, welcome to the site mate. Also, I reckon you'll find that you cannot get a mental illness from smoking mj. MJ is only a risk factor involved. Other risk factors are genetical, such as having other family members with a mental illness, which in your case, is true.

To be honest, if you were paying me for the advice, I'd advise against you consuming mj in any of it's forms. Why tempt fate?

I have lots of mental illness running in my family, not necessarily schizophrenia, but I smoke quite regularly and my head is quite tightly screwed on. Those who want to spread fear about the plant will say just one puff and you can go insane, well if cannabis can cause mental illness I don't think there is any evidence that just one puff can do, it would have to be over a period of time.

Smoke the joint and see how you feel, you'll know if it's for you or not pretty quickly. If you like it, then I suggest just doing it in moderation to make sure your head stays on tight.
