Hydro To Outdoor

One of my friends grows weed, and he does it in a really unusual way. What he does is starts his plants off as hydro and then as they get older he moves them outside. Now i've asked some people about this and they said the plant would freak out and die. But the opposite seems to happen the plant doesn't really grow for the first week or two but after that it grows fine and the bud are very big and potent.

 

Also on all the seed banks online it either says indoor outdoor or greenhouse, would that really matter, would you be able to get a White Widow (or any other indoor plant) and grow it outside?

Yes you can grow any strain outdoors - some strains are recommended indoor because of their growing traits, like they stay small but throw a lot of bud. Likewise some are recommended for outdoors because of their long flower times and size.

The seedbanks/breeders are just telling you the most suitable environment for a particular strain. You could probably grow anything anywhere but the strain might struggle to reach its full potential

I had a decent (20 odd plants) hydro setup at Mission Beach in Nth Queensland around the time cyclone larry came through. The plants were in week 6 or

 

7 of flower and because of the cyclone lost power for 3 weeks. I had no choice but to put plants outside to finish off (was lucky it was a late cyclone

 

for the season-march). The plants are the biggest I have ever grown. My yield went from 5-6 ounces per plant(estimate) under lights to averaging about

 

10-12 ounces under sunlight. Was %100 organic in soil in pots.I have never been able to replicate the results though.

yeah its strange because the buds are massive and full of crystals and i looked at it under the microscope and its completely covered in threnchnomes way more then any other strain i've looked at

moving indoor plants outside is`nt a big deal, just needs to be done carefully. plants need to be hardened off like any other...

 

Now, ya wanna re-think hydro for a sec, surely ya dont mean going outside from a DWC or similar setup indoors? you talking plants in coco or potting mix, yeah?
