The BEST way to Kill Spider mite

Recommended Posts

The real best way i hate to say it... buy the $50-60 bottle.... dilute and spray. a guaranteed product. Im not messin with home cures. Im not calling you a liar. Im just being careful.

what is the $50 bottle ? a name would help!

Im sure this home made solution works, but I would find it hard to believe its more effective than a chemical pesticide designed to kill them

!!GET IN EARLY BEFORE SPIDERMITES DO!!

---I CAN'T GIVE YOU A BRAND NAME.....I'M NOT A HYDROPONIC DISTRIBUTOR---

But...

I've used a variety of brands that aren't even on the market anymore.

I even tried to google the same brands just then, they really don't exist.

I've also used specific types of sheep drench that a hydroponics supplier has given me. It was very cheap due to the bulk buying the distributer was into. That was a powder that you mix into a spray bottle of water,it worked great. One gram of powder to a 500mL spraybottle of water. Sheep drench doesn't kill sheep, why would it kill a WEED?!?!?

There are some nice newer brands of pest control to help prevent or rid your plants of spidermite they are around the price of $25.00 and upwards.

It is best to spray your room, plants, and equipment with these before you start(NOT YOUR ELECTRICALS WHEN THEY HAVE THE POWER 'ON'.... TURN IT OFF FIRST AND LET IT DRY OUT). Also carefully repeat every 2-4 weeks. Focus on windows(inside and out), fans, exhausts, doors, (NEW EQUIPMENT OR ANYTHING NEW YOU BRING INTO THE ROOM!) Just as a prevention technique.

I FOLLOW THESE RULES, I've never, ever, had spidermites because of this reason.

My next door neighbours have had spidermites at the same time that I didn't, that is how I knew they were in my area, I stayed safe.

If my neighbours caught spidermites, 20 metres away from me, while I didn't, I think that proves to listen to me on this one.

Always check for signs of spidermites, everytime you look at your plants. Don't presume they are not there!!

You may never get spidermites, you may be lucky, it just isn't worth getting them AT ALL, or especially, right before HARVEST TIME!!!

Ask your local Hydro specialist for the preventative solution to spidermite that they are selling. Ask the dealer if it works for other people. Feel comfortable with your purchase. Be comfortable with the security of your plants. Be satisfied that an expert sold you a great product.

Care to name a product that works? Care to tell us what works given you`ve never had to deal with mites?

No exp` with mites tells me you cant bag the home made methods... I`ve used home made remedies in commercial applications (Carnation houses, efc) with reasonable results, especially given the houses backed onto an emu paddock, they`re full of mites.

In a home situation, due diligence and good growing methods allow the use of home made remedies, I`ve never bought or used any commercial miticides at home...

Mites are a resilient bunch of bastards, they can become immune to some commercial sprays real quick, leaving the grower to use and subsequently spend more, not to mention more exposure to chemical residues, etc. You`ll find most commercial growers use a cycle of differing products to avoid the immunity build up

Best method is to make em unwelcome at earliest contact...

To be perfectly honest jaikai, I didn't say that home remedies dont work. I am stating that I personally will buy a manufactured product, that is scientifically designed to erradicate mites.

Yes the best method is to make em unwelcome at earliest contact. I agree 100% with you there. Especially seeing as though they can only take about as little as 3-5 days to destroy, Everything.

If you have some really great home remedies jaikai, you are very lucky indeed. I wish I had some cheaper home remedies that I new could trust.

I havent had to buy a bottle of spidermite solution for 6-7years, I stocked up on the sheep drench powder I was talking about. That was 5 yrs ago. I only need 3-4 grams per year. I tried to find out the name... don't you worry about that.

It came in a cleanskin drum. Unfortunately. Otherwise I would be recommending the whole planet to buy it.

I don't want to sound like a prick, but I'm not calling everyone I know, just to ask them what the brand name was either.... I don't care that much about everyone here, Im not a fucking saint.

No offence intended to the readers.

I really haven't had a spidermite problem, because of my precautions, Im laughing, AHAHAHAHAHA.

Pyranica...?

JAIKAI

I just looked at Pyranica PDF's and MSDS. I like the look of it. I really do. What I use, is so much stronger. I would actually try Pyranica and I would feel rather comfortable with it. I believe it to be a safe product if someone would like to use it for spidermites.

I would definately use a stronger concentrate.

I want those mites to BURN IN HELL!

It`s potent, no doubting that. Needs to be used in cycle with other less intensive products. Most of the "good stuff" you wont find in the home environment, at least not legally

The biggest issue is prevention really... growing indoors as a monoculture is a neon sign for various pests, we even bring em in on our shoes and clothes.

A good method is to start with a clean area and good practices, a spray of garlic iol, detergent, etc keeps most at bay. Unfortunately the lil bastards can turn up and settle in real quick, it`s then you need a good miticide, a course of repeat sprays to control and break the egg cycole. Hopefully then you can put the stuff away and get back to the home made methods. Regular use brings on resistance pretty quickly...

If you`re patient and have an area capable of supporting it, IPM is the best control of all

Dead red, mite rid, bio neem... they all work, as do many other brands, as stated before they are all best used alternately to prevent resistance in the population.

Things that don't work are the standard pest control products: pest bombs, flea bombs, fly spray ect... wont do a bloody thing so don't poison yourself trying them out.
