outdoor cloning

Recommended Posts

yea shouldnt make any difference so long as you keep same photoperiod and keep them from drying out, i take my cuts and put them in a cloning incubator an sit it on the laundry window-sill, out of the direct light but still getting the full day's light, but outside away from direct sun is no different ...

when the daylight has gone i give mine another hour or so with the laundry light on just to make sure they not go to flower, but thats cause i take mine 1st week in Febuary when flowering usually starts, if you take yours now they should be rooted by then

:peace:

Remember making a terrarium at primary school with a coke bottle?

If not cut it off about 3" from the base, fill the base with medium, whack in the cut with cloning gel applied and slip the top of the bottle back over the base. Keep out of direct sunlight and you'll have a pretty high success rate.

I clone tomato plants outdoors all the time.

I take my cuttings and use a commercial hormone, Clonex Purple, to help strike them. I use a commercial seedling soil mix with a good dose of compost, about a third in mass. Then I put them near a north facing window in my shed. All I do then is keep them moist with the occaisional very weak (20%) seaweed extract solution. They seem to develop very thick trunks, and become very healthy plants with very few problems and I get a high ratio of ladies. That is about all that I have found you need to do, then let nature take it's course.

G'day MM.

When I cloned, the donor plants, were only about 200mm tall. That was last year, this year I got some exceptional seed that I've been told are PNG x Nth Qld. They aren't growing as fast as last season but this might be the crook weather down here in Vic. I will post some photos as soon as I can get the rest of the software I need. Being a pensioner, budgeting can be a pain in the arse. $50 is a major investment at the moment, Xmas, car reg and insurance put a big hole in things, but slowly getting back on my feet.

Cheers.
