Fine incentive to give up drugs

Recommended Posts

A 32-YEAR-OLD woman might want to think about quitting drugs as her New Year's resolution, after her bad habit landed her in court.

Margaret Maureen Presbury pleaded guilty to possession of dangerous drugs and possession of utensils or pipes for use at Gladstone Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Police Prosecutor Acting Sergeant Sean Franklin said Gladstone police found 1.5 grams of cannabis and utensils in the main bedroom of a Barreenong Street address at 12.30pm on Thursday, December 16 last year.

The court heard the drugs were for personal consumption.

The court told Presbury had no previous history. Magistrate Mark Morrow fined Presbury $300.

If it says 'a dangerous drug' - always plead not guilty.

Apparently in the US they are having trouble even getting a jury to sit on weed cases. The public just dont think its worth prosecuting.

I think they could find enough aged pensioners in Australia to give them a chance at winning, but why is it a dangerous drug? Make your point that the government deals a more dangerous drug called alcohol. What exactly makes marijuana dangerous.

Irrelevant weed cases clog up the court system all the time. Why not stretch it out a bit longer?

If I ever got in trouble for smoking, it would be a big fat NOT GUILTY to posession of a dangerous drug. Fuck these assholes who want to label weed as something dangerous. Alcohol is so much more dangerous and has a much much larger impact on society. I would stand up and make sure the entire court knew, that the War on Drugs has killed more people than the drug itself, and that Cannabis is a medicine, not just something people use to get stoned.
