Adelaide raids net guns,drugs and cash

RAIDS across Adelaide have netted police guns, cash and thousands of drug deals.

A 9mm semi-automatic pistol fitted with a silencer, a pistol that could be converted into a rifle, nearly 4000 street deals of methamphetamine worth up to $200,000, $30,000 in cash, capsicum spray and two tasers were seized in the raids at Norwood, Burton, Virginia and Pennington yesterday.

 

Detective Inspector John De Candia said the arrested people were not bikies.

 

"The quality of the drugs they were selling is very high so we are confident that it's at a sufficient level that would have an impact (on the groups operation),'' he said.

 

"The investigation has been ongoing for a number of months and it shows once again cash and guns and drugs are linked. Where ever you find cash and drugs you find guns.

.

"The danger they present to the community is very high and it is a good result to get these dangerous items off the street.

 

"We have taken the opportunity to put this group out of business and put them before the courts.''

 

Det-Insp De Candia said the raids did not uncover where the drugs were manufactured but police were closing in on their source.

 

He said it was like piecing a jigsaw puzzle together.

 

"The information came from different sources and once it was put together it showed the big picture."

 

All the arrested people were known to each other.

 

 

 

A Norwood woman, 38, a Virginia man, 50, and Norwood man, 42, were arrested and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

 

A Virginia man, 44, was arrested at the Virginia caravan park and charged with firearms offences.

 

He was given police bail to appear in court as a later date.
