VIC POT PRICES AT ALL TIME HIGH!

Almost 70 properties have been raided, 34 people arrested and 6000 cannabis plants seized in what Victoria Police describes as the biggest set of drug raids in the state's history.

The operation involved 630 police working with federal counterparts and officials from the taxation and immigration departments.

Police Deputy Commissioner Ken Jones on Tuesday said the raids, code named Operation Entity, were ongoing, with 100 properties expected to be raided by the end of the week.

"This is the biggest single mobilisation of Victoria Police against organised crime to date," Sir Ken told a Melbourne press conference.

"Perhaps the greatest scourge in our community is the vile traffic in illicit drugs - lives and neighbourhoods are destroyed while those who profit from this trade like to think their involvement goes on unnoticed."

The raids covered properties in the Dandenong, Melton and Footscray areas, as well as regional Horsham, Geelong, Ballarat and Warrnambool.

Police believe they have smashed a cartel that has raked in an estimated $400 million.

Sir Ken said Operation Entity was a two-year strategy involving international connections into organised crime that produced and trafficked high-potency cannabis and other drugs.

"Those involved will be brought to justice and their ill-gotten gains will be seized," he said.

"Today we will begin a process to bring to book people behind the syndicates who seek to launder drug money.

"Today we have demonstrated that in protecting the community we will do all we can to stand between you and those who seek to exploit and prey upon you."

Charges laid over cannabis raids

POLICE last night charged five men after drug raids across Melbourne yesterday.

In an out-of-sessions hearing, the men were charged with a range of drug offences including cultivating, possessing and trafficking commercial quantities of cannabis.

They were Hung Viet Dang, 24, of Springvale, Thuong Dat Nguyen, 28, of Springvale, Trungh Manh Vo, 54, of Noble Park, Zhong Shen Li, 28, of Springvale, and Hung Van Le, 46, of no fixed address.

Some of the men were also charged with stealing electricity to power sophisticated hydroponic growing set-ups at six properties.

A Vietnamese interpreter was required for four of the men, who had travelled to Australia from Vietnam.

All of the men have been remanded to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court this morning.

Several other men arrested yesterday are assisting police with inquiries.

Looks like the Vietnamese Triads overstepped the boundry or Fucked with the wrong people. These guys are just the Lackies, the sacrificial offerings the big boys put out to cover their scent.

Stealing power never pays, it's the LIL things that get ya Busted.

This type of shit is why we need legalization, we are MAKING these wankers rich by keeping Pot Illegal. They are setting up shop here from overseas.........that's how much money is in it. Cops and the Legal system be warned......you are bringing in heavy players that will eventually teach you not to mess with them. better Legalize it now before you fight a street war that is WAY beyond your ability to handle or put the public in the position of being caught in the middle. :peace: Gh72.

How many people growing for themselves were caught up in this. I would hate to be throw. In the same boat as these lowlife thugs.

The problem with buying from these guys is not just the quality of what your buying, but where the money is going. Straight over sea's into some crime lords coffers. Probably the same sort of scum that deal in the sex trade of children.
