FIRST GROW-NEED ANY ADVICE

Recommended Posts

hey grasshopper thanks for the reply,

so im back from the shops and im stingin for a cone..hold up 1 sec :bongon:

yea so i went had a look at some cupboards today and i found this 3 shelves bookshelf.its about 5 ft tall and white.looks a bit like this:

i think its good enough to grow 1 or 2 plants ill just have to remove the shelves and cover the front with something.its only $16 from the reject shop too.i found some 60 watt lampshades,i might buy a few of them and stick 50watt cfl's close to the plant.or if i can find a cheap good hydro light thats no too strong ill buy it.theres alot of 600watt hps lights on the net going for cheap but i think 600watt might be overkill.i think i might just go with cfls for now and if there no good ill just get a proper light.

^this one will be overkill and looks too big for my grow.

ill try to look for a smaller one.i might have to visit the hydro shop.

i dont want to spend too much.

I just can't reiterate enough that in my opinion these cfl's arn't going to cut the mustard, for raising clones, keeping bonsai mothers or side lighting yeah.

I'de just hate for you to put in all this effort and be really disappointed in the end.

May i ask why its so important to be super stealth? Housemates? Parents? Renting?

good afternoon td,so you think cfl's arent reliable.ill try find a hps globe then.i think i might go to a hydro shop or buy from ozponics on ebay.the GROWLUSH 130W FLUORO 6400K LAMP + FLAT PIN LAMP HOLDER looks alright.

i know when i get to the flowering stage i might have problems with cfl's.yea your right there prolly only good for side lighting.for the top light i really want to get a good reliable light source.i just keep seeing all these people growing 1 to 2 plants with just cfl's on youtube.just type in cfl grow on youtube and you'll see'em.

May i ask why its so important to be super stealth? Housemates? Parents? Renting?

housemates.bro if i had a whole house to myself for sure i would never get of my dealer again..

thanks for the advice td.ill play it safe.

A HID light will give you a much better result than a CFL but you can still achieve reasonable results with them - I would be aiming at one or two of the 130w CFLs you mentioned.

A 400w HID will cover about a 1m x 1m area, 600w - 1.2m x 1.2m, but your ventilation will have to be far better than if you are using cfl's.

I would have a good look at some of the auto flowering strains if you want to keep it small and stealth.

And I'll say it again...read, read and read some more!

@iatd whats wrong with cfl's in a small grow box?

Nothing at all bro, if all you want is a oz every three months or so. Also cfl's are very inefficient compared to HID lighting. If you want to grow in a really small space your better of with a 150w hps.

I'm not saying its best to use a 150w, but you would get better value than a 150w cluster of cfl's (cheaper to run, and less heat collectivly).

You can do some good things in small spaces.

Ooooh yeahhhh ;o
