FIRST GROW-NEED ANY ADVICE

hi everyone this my first post on ozstoners.i joined this forum coz i want to try grow my own buds just as an experiment.i just want to try grow 1 or 2 plants for now in 1 pot in a small stealthy pc/speaker box type setup n see how i go.me and a mate have grown some backyard outdoor plants before which got stolen but thats pretty much all the experience i have besides smoking the shit all day everyday ...

 

anywayz so im lookin to buy a small cupboard probably around 70cm high.i have some seeds on the window sill waiting to sprout while i build her house..the seeds are just some dank bagseeds ive collected over time from some dank bud..dont know the name of the strain coz people know nothing about strains around here..im glad people on this forum know what they're talking and know what they're smoking...australia needs to step her weed game up coz we're falling behind to other countries..

 

for the lights i want to use cfl bulbs..i had a look in the shops today and the phillip bulbs didnt look too bad.i know i need around 100watts is that right?..my problem at the moment is where am i gonna get the lamp cords (light bulb socket to power socket cord)?does anyone know where to buy them?or do i just have to dismantle a few lamps.i saw someone mention the 10 party light socket cord you can get at bunnings

someone mentioned its dangerous to use if other sockets are not being used..

i was wondering if i could use the 10 sockets and put 12watt cfl's in each socket which will get me a bit over 100watts?

 

if thats not the way to go ill just make two sockets and use 2 60 watt cfl's.

ill figure out something i know temperature is most important not really the power or quantity of lights.im just a little confused with my socket setup at the moment.any advice on that would be great..

 

so i have a small fan.i understand i need intake and outtake thats no problem.ill probably buy a mini exhaust or a hole on the top would probably be enough for a little grow box.i got a timer and thermometer and some mylar.soil wont be a problem.

 

just gotta get my box together,get a plant sprouting and figure out what im going to do with the lights.ill keep you guys updated.any advice on lights,the temperature i have to maintain,nutrients,light and air cycle etc will be much appreciated....anything guys fill me in..thanks in advance.

Firstly man, chill. You need to read up some before you think about sprouting anything. I've just started posting here today so i'll just add a little bit right here. Cfl's in a pc case or in a speaker, will not yeild you anything worth the time and effort. If you want to do it for fun or an experiment go ahead and have fun, but if you seriously want to grow enough for you to smoke and never buy from a dealer again, you just won't be able to in that small a space.

There is a wealth of knowledge here, best you can do before you start is read, read and read some more.

There are some good grow diary's around, pick one and go with it. If you get stuck and cant find what you are looking for then

ask, we are happy to help but please have a good look around.

thanks for the quick replies..yea im not rushing into anything..im just trying to do the most research i can first in case i fuck up just waste my time..and yea like i said its just for fun experimental reasons..

maybe i should get some lowryder , autoflowering seeds there probably more suited to stealth growing..

 

all the good seeds from demonseeds are sold out

 

anyway we'll see wat happens its just for fun ..trial and error,just trying to learn something u know..

yea man im not trying to grow too much.well not for my first grow..just researching for now..

im thinking now i might just make my own box out of cardboard coz yea like you said i dont think i will get anything worth my time in a small space.i understand the plant will need space and i might have to prune it.i gotta keep it as stealthy and small as possible coz im working in my bedroom.i been reading alot of posts and watching alot of videos..im starting to get an idea i think..

Nothing at all bro, if all you want is a oz every three months or so. Also cfl's are very inefficient compared to HID lighting. If you want to grow in a really small space your better of with a 150w hps.

I'm not saying its best to use a 150w, but you would get better value than a 150w cluster of cfl's (cheaper to run, and less heat collectivly).

Hey 420conez, good to see you are researching.

 

When I read 'cardboard' the first thing I thought was 'fire', I'd use a small cupboard or a set of drawers or a wardrobe or something hardier than cardboard.

@Bundy yea that would be good but where am i gonna find a fridge lying around..i got a mini bar fridge but i dont think thats gonna be big enough.

 

@Naycha yea i was thinking about that too it could be a fire hazard.i think a decent size cupboard might be the way to go for me.

Hey 420conez =), get yaself a cheap cupboard from an op shop, Paint the inside flat white and then start looking at different designs. I'd go a 400w HPS for a light(cost ya around $220 with good Phillips globe, reflector, ballast and all cords), perfect for a cupboard and 1-2 plants, maybe more if ya keep em small.

Sure someone around here can help ya with info for a cupboard build.
