First grow.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

Finally got my shit together and have a couple of plants growing. Out of 5 seed three germinated, one died as a seedling the other two were duds. Now i'm justing wait to these two are old enough to see if they're female.

The second plant sorta grew along the ground for a bit before it started to grow upward and it's displaying some deformed growth. I'm not sure how much this will affect the flowers but any idea on why it's doing it? The botched few weeks of growth? Genetics?

This is my first ever grow, and as such i'm treating it as a learning year. Any bud is just a bonus. Currently have them in a greenhouse, plenty of water, full sun, and i was thinking a bit of blood and bone along with bi-weekly Charlie carp fertiliser. How does that sound? I'm not trying for huge buds, just wanting to learn about the plants grow habits and the like. It does get quite hot in there on the sunnier days. Seems like there's quite a bit of science to this haha. Some of this shit is complex.

Also, how long untill i can be certain what gender they are? And umm.. how do you tell? Thhaaanks.

I had a bit more room for photos so uploaded some random shit i thought you's might like.

cheers

You need to put a little more info up along with the plant, what type of soil mix have you used etc.

There is a lot of info on here regarding sexing your plants, you just need to have a search around, also there are a few outdoor grow diary's that you could read up on. Any mistakes you make now are a brilliant learning curve for your next grow.

In the mean time read, read and then read some more. :peace:

You've got some nice specimens in that garden of yours mate. Very cool

It looks like you're off to a decent start. You've got 2 plants, with basically a 50% chance each of them being a male or a female.

Learning to pick the difference between males and females is fundamental to your success in this hobby. A plant can start spitting preflowers from ~6-8 weeks old or about a foot tall. You just need to keep an eye out for these as the plants get older.

Here's a pic of a male plant, notice the little pollen sacks that look like balls.

Here's a pic of a female plant, notice the little white hairs (pistils).

Give em sun, water and lots of love and I'm sure they'll turn out fine. Good Luck mate.

Ah soil ph. If anything the larger pot would most likely be a little acidic. But all in all i think the soil shouldn't be that bad, but i'll wait and see. Thanks for those pictures sawyer, exactly what i was after. Much appreciated!!

I'll take a few pics every few weeks and start recording the amounts of water ferts, how soon it starts to flower etc. Grow log. I don't see why growing these beautys can't be the simplest thing, if they could get em' to grow thousands of years ago i'm sure the plant hasn't changed all that much since lol.

Any ideas on reasons for deformed growth. Seems like a common problem..so maybe i'll check the troubleshooting forums heh heh.

cheers

hey mate, this is off topic, but im also a newbie and i was just wondering how old are those plants in your photos? i want to compare them to mine as i think mine are quite small for their age; but it may just be the genetics because i have no idea what type mine are either.

All the best with your grow though, hope they are both females!

cheers,

wizzy
