Somethings Eating My Babies.

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I've just started my first outdoor grow and I'm about three weeks in. I woke up this morning to find somethings had a wee munch on one of my plants. I've uploaded a before and after photo. I'm guessing its some moth or caterpillar but not to sure.

If anyones got any ideas on what it could be and how to stop whatever it is helping themselves that would be awesome.

P.s I saw some Yates anti bug spray at the supermarket a while ago but not sure if it will damage the plant or not?

Cheers,

Could be earwigs or slaters. Go out at night with a torch & you'll see the little buggers having a good munch. Check under the pot...they hide well. All else fails leave a few sheets of newspaper next to the plants & whatever eats them will hide in the paper...roll it up, shake it out AWAY from the plants then step on the bastards as they run away!!!

Maybe it was a dingo! lmao!

I can't help but to poke fun at the topic title!

I think it might be a larger insect, so easier to deal with, I myself would not use bug spray, it is toxic & yes, might hurt the plants, read what the directions say on the bottle, if you must use spray. Another eco option for pests is to use diatomaceous earth powder http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQn6GSHNzBE

I used some spray stuff one time for spider mites (little black specks crawling) & the spray did more damage than the mites & the mites were still there! & it will effect the smoke!

It could also be snails or slugs, which you can set up a trap for, using a bottle & beer, you can look it up online. If it is a sanil or slug, in the morning you will usually spot a rainbow refective sercretion on the leaves, try & keep you grass area where you have the plants trimmed & or away from little places slugs & snail can hide from the hot sun & dry times. There is also snail pellets that kill snails too, or just another thought, if snails or slugs are suspected, make a circle of salt around them but not to much because salt with cause things not to grow on a lawn, but good idea for a cemented area!
