Really Basic Dodgey Setup

Recommended Posts

Heya all

ill confess straight up im a nub when it comes to growing stuff so recently planted some bag seeds and they are going well but i cant have em outside anymore so i want to grow them in my shed out the back.

there are only 3 small saplings - thinking of getting rid of one casue its really small still, so really only looking a setup for 2 plants.

ive had a look at the light chart but numbers confuse me

how much light in general does a plant need? will a 150w halogen work light give enough?

ill go water them every day and all that.

so its no big project and i dont care if i dont get a yeild out of it, its more of a test :P

Hi there TSJ,

It ain't so much the number of plants per light but more the grow area per light. for instance in a fridge grow you can get away with a 250watt HPS(high pressure sodium)But put that same light in an area 10ft x 10ft x 10ft its useless. As the grow area increases so does the amount of light needed. You can get one plant to fill a 10 x 10 x 10 area but with adequate light.

It's my understanding (and I maybe wrong. Others here would know) that the halogen bulb light spectrum does not provide the required spectrum for plants to grow to their full potential. Some people run a mixture of HPS and MH bulbs, some run MH for their grow and HPS for their flowering. Me I just run HPS right through the whole cycle, grow and flower. Each has their own ideal, but from experience HPS works.

Hope it helps

this is the location that i can use, its next to the door but it will have to do.

what do you think i should do? block out the area between the door with some black plastic?

and its a pretty airy shed with holes around the bottom, but can put in a pedestal fan if needed.

P.S sorry for the large picture ... lol i just took it on my phone :/
