What Should I Use For Oder Control?

Recommended Posts

Okay so been looking at all the different types of oder control

Carbon filters: do I need to have it vented to outside or the roof space?

would it be bad breathing in the carbon or ozone the filters emit?

ozone: are there any bad human side effects of using?

Odor Sok Air: any good?

What does everyone think of this air purifier

gday

wen using a carbon filter

its best to exhaust the used air away from ya area

that way u arent recycling dead air and u are getting the best possible air

i duct mine up to the manhole

i make a duplicate manhole of my own material and make any cuts needed for the duct to exhaust

ozone on the other hand is dangerouns to both humans and pets

if u ran ozone ud definately need to duct out of your grow area

and also will need to turn it off wen u go into grow depending on where u place unit

very tricky shit and alot easier to runa quality fan and filter combo

them sort of neg ion air cleansers hmmmm...

i tried em 1 time ina small fridge area

controlled the smell yer in that very small fluoro lit area

but also seemed to remove the smell from the buds too...hmmmm not happy

yer so id say a carbon filter coupled with a quality centrifugal is ya best approach to odor control

another tip is to always get afan rated a bit bigger than ya area

and allow for reductions in flow for bends etc

all the best

I use odorsocks vented into the roof space, they are ok but not very. After about 2 mths you can definitely get the occasional whiff while standing in the driveway. They really need to be washed every couple of months to keep them working.

I'm going to replace mine with proper carbon filters, something like the canfilters. I'll not use odorsocks again.

hi AS,

Its hard for us to give you advice as much depends on how your grow area is planned & how your growing, including how smelly the strain is. But generally speaking carbon filters (c/f) are the best and most stealthiest (unless it's an over-kill @ 1.0m), They are a long term solution to a tempory problem. Plants usually smell only when in flower. Your garbon filter will last you 5 yrs plus.

Odour sok's ate your no 2. There are good brands and bad brands (hint- the stiching is the clue). Some take kindly to a good wash & "reatcivation" while other not. Costs are within means of most I would think and thus a shor-term solution and costs aggrigated over time will cost you alot more than if using a c/f.

Ion 'ers  - won't say anything

Just my ideas on what is generally considered better than none - only to add i would have none over having an ionizer !

Cheer's

Hey AS, i have tried odor Soks, they are Ok for some not so smelly strains and veg areas (on some strains), but later I invested in a Phat Filter for the grow tent and then a Mountain Air for the Veg Cupboard, they are both good brands and work excellent, You can walk into my room and not smell even a whiff, even with the cupboard open and full of drying buds, or the tent in full bloom.

I know they cost a bit more, but trust me, money well spent. I would say in 50% of cases most people would get dobbed in because of the smell, making it obvious. So a bit of money spent now will ensure you are sitting on your couch smoking fatties instead of running around the house with spray packs of Nilodor trying to kill the smell.

I trimmed my buds (very Stinky) next to my Veg Cabinet with the door open and had 2 4ft plants hanging in there waiting to be trimmed, next door there were HEAPS of people and no-one was the wiser, thats the type of odor control ya want. Billo, Nitty and Ratty have been through it all. In fact a certain young hopper was a bit of a dick and didn't listen to Billos advice and he spent money on a Sok, thought they were the shizz, only to realize later he was wrong and then had to buy a Carbon Filter.. I should of listened.. Onya Billo. :peace: Gh72
