Thin Stems

My problem I hope is a simple one. I have had about 6 - 7 crops of light to medium yeilds however my main concern is that every grow I have the stems never end up thicker than twigs (i.e. 2-3mm thick). How can this be prevented?

I would suggest getting some fresh seeds or clones - it may be that the strain has lost it's vigour over a few generations.

Thats just a starting point, if anyone else has ideas go for it.

Perhaps stretching could be a cause of this aswell, you may not be using enough light for the area you have.

its not a bad thing

as we arent growing for stems..

i know it can be frustrating requiring support

i find silica will assist in big stems

i mainly use it in vege as i want buds in flower

Necropost!.... Bill you still using silica? O thought using it in flower was also good cos it keeps the nutrient pathways healthy and swollen??

Silica is exceptional stuff.

Have you got a fan blowing on the plant? Movement from a fan will definitely help give you a thicker stem. You can even shake the base of the stem once a day and this will also help to develop strong stems - dont go overboard though your obviously not tryimg to break it.
