Rains, What To Do

Recommended Posts

I have 6 plants growing guerilla in the bush that are about a month old but not that tall. most likely 10" give or take. The problem is I have rain forecast this next coming week. I know they're in veg and obviously rain is good....but from your experience (other outdoor growers) what is going to happen with a forecast like this on my youngins?

Roughly there will be 5-10mm Friday then 20-40mm Saturday :helpsmilie: , then less than 5mm sunday, then back to 10-20mm  Monday and then 5-10mm Tuesday. After that i hope for gods sake it is sunny for a while.

They're getting good sun at the moment and have been since they were transplanted to their new home, I don't suspect these rains will be disgustingly stormy and overcast, I still suspect sun to reach them on most of the days asides from when they receive the phat 20-40mm forecast. Lets hope its wrong

Now I know asides from the 20-40mm, there isn't a lot of rain but I was thinking about putting a lid so to speak on top of my cages that the plants are in. Something along the lines of clear plastic that the sun can still penetrate but block the rain out. I was also thinking about making run off from the holes so they don't get too much.

What precautions are necessary? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I would advise against putting plastic on top of your plants as the light will bounce off and be mega obvious to any pigs in the sky

There probably isn't a whole lot you can do, but provided the soil they're growing in has good drainage the day of heavy rain shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure you can and check on them the following day to make sure :peace:

your a lucky bastard, think of all that water that you DON'T have to carry for a few days.... If you could Id try and set up something to harvest a bit of that rain as then you will have even less carting.... unless of course you have a sweet set up already;)

We havent had 15 mm for the whole month over here so Id be stoked if I was you.... Lucky bugger

ha yeah in that sense your right. I really can't help but think everyone of these plants is going to be dead in a week. You guys seem half confidet they will survive but personally I think if I don't put a cover or something over them......a potential 50mm will destroy them, I don't see how they could survive. If they were big and strong I wouldn't doubt it but they're just not at that stage yet.
