Autos Outdoors In Vic

Recommended Posts

Sorry in advance if I'm going over old ground. I've had a read through the back threads and can't find anything specific on autos in Vic, so here goes;

As a back up on a hydro grow I'm about to attempt I want to do an outdoor grow with some autos. I've ordered a few seeds of the afrodites and smile strains today and hope to get them here by the end of the month.

They'll be in a position getting direct sunlight from around sun up to about 3ish then they'll be in shade or filtered light. They will also be able to get regular waterings by sprinkler and tap timer as well as hand watering if needed. What fertilizers are good? Would seasol or powerfeed cut it, or even the hydro nutrients? I plan on digging a big hole and filling it with mushroom compost and potting mix. Or is there something better? 1 will be in a huge glazed pot as well.

Couple other questions; how big are they likely to get and can I pin them down if they start getting too high? And if I have seeds sprouted by the first week of november when is harvest most likely to be? And also how do the autos go with Vics weather? It could be down to 12 overnight and possibly up to 40 during the day depending on our unpredictable weather

Any tips and suggestions muchly appreciated!

Dont just use seasol. Seasol isnt a fert. And yes seasol and powerfeed should cut it :) Shouldnt need any ferts for first month or so. And you will probly get 1 - 2 oz off an auto outside. Im not too sure as never grown them. But they shouldnt get too high and yes, you can tie them down :) As long as you keep the water up they shouldnt be too bothered by the heat :)

Hope that helps.

Hi Parkesy

I grow autos all year round in VIC :)

winter time your will find that that may take a month to auto flower as apposed to the warmer months like right now.

As for the mushroom compost I would stay the hel away from that stuff unless you have used it b4 and it did not burn the shit out of your plants. seasol or powerfeed are fine but if you can afford to spend a little coin and try making up a nice soil mix consisting on manure and quality soil or failing that get some good potting mix and mix in 2 - 3 hand fulls of slow release ferts :)

Auto's can get as tall as 1 meter in height if giving a hole deep enough for the tap root dig deep, average height will be how ever deep your pot is, if putting in the ground try layering gypsom on the bottom of your hole so if the plant does hit the bottom it will still be able to dig deeper as the gypson would of broken up and loosened the ground a fair bit.

You can deff "pin" them down but some lst with a few bits of wire or string would be a better option.

Harvest is 8 - 12 weeks from seed to harvest, this is of course deppendent on the genetics of the auto.. the more indica dom the more likely it will be 8 weeks as it gets more sativa dom you can expect 10 - 12 weeks.

yields will vary untill you got that particular auto dialed.. but expect anything from 20 - 50 grams per plant.. once you got it dialed 100 grams is doable

these are my fairy lights im testing out for mossy and my auto lemon skunk :) they are not to far along are these are purely for a seed run so i can go hack and drop a fair few in a plot i am making up atm :)

Just remember that the bigger the hole you dig the easier it will be for your plants roots to spread out and then you should get a nice big plant. I always put some chicken manure on the bottom of the hole. By the time your plant reaches the manure it will have broken down a little.

Watch that your glazed pot doesn't overheat on the really hot days. You don't want to cook it!

Hey thanks heaps for that guys and gals! You grow all year round in Vic, shroomy!? God dang boy, I thought those things would freeze in our winter! What's the key to winter growing? Full sun and a greenhouse type thing? To be honest I wish i knew of the auto strains before I set up the hydro. I always wanted to do outdoor but because of the light cycles needed I never would have been able to give them 12 hours of absolute dark because of outdoor lights and garden light that may get flicked on and off. Oh well I've got the hydro all setup now so will have a crack at both.

Ill steer clear of mushroom compost. I only had heaps at home leftover from the veggie garden setup. Bunnings should have all I need I hope and I don't need much of an excuse to go drop money there. That place is a bloody magnet for me

Id be lucky to smoke an ounce every 6 months so if all goes well I'll be sure to make friends happy with giveaways galore

They are a variety of strains that have been crossed with cannabis ruderalis resulting in strains that don't need a change in lighting / daytime hours to flower. They grow for I've heard around 2 weeks from seed then go straight into flowering mode. From seed to harvest is said to be between 8-12 weeks. Pretty cool aye!? :applause:
