Elzaros' 2010 First Ever Grow

Recommended Posts

HI All,

I posted in the "Post Pictures of your 2010 Grow" but thought i'd make a new topic which will be more specific to my grow and maybe get some help from you those guys who've been there before.

This is my setup for my seedlings before i am taking them outside in the next few weeks.

I have a fan that circulates the air and the room stays between 18 - 25 degrees Celsius. I have just added a 48 watt light that will boost the strength before transplanting.

I've been having some trouble with the lower leaves of the seedlings developing a dry and dieing look and i cannot figure out what is causing this to happen. I water every 2 days with fair amount of water and monitor the soil moisture as well to make sure its well watered. I also have tested the PH level in the water and its sitting at around 6.

Below are some pictures of the plants in question. The bottom picture is a bit different i think (because the plant is a lot weaker than the others) and it might not be the same issue.

Any light you could shed on the matter would be great.

I agree jaikai. Soil should have a ph 6.5-7. the bottom plant, looks to me, like it has had a bit to much water. I could be wrong though.

Keep up the good work.

Whoa!!! just went and had another look at the pics. Are those pots in the trays sitting in water? If so I would drain the water off. They do not need a lot of water right now.

yeah ill avoid letting water sit in the trays, its only ever in there for short amounts of time. I bought a seedling raising mix which i thought would be a pretty neutral combo with plain tap water. I dont have a soil ph test kit but i did test tap water ph. In other words is there any tips, pointers anything i can do to help them sooner rather than later. Whats best for adjusting the PH?

Test the ph of the run off water in the trays. Should give you a good indication of the pot ph. Work out the ph first. Hydro shops have ph up & down.
